Happy Lamb Hot Pot, Mississauga — Restaurant in Mississauga

The place is quite good. I was originally turned off by all the reviews but let's clear some things up.

1. I went for lunch on a Friday and did not find it very busy. The server was attentive and spoke fluent Mandarin (first language)

2. You pay per person, and then pay for the broth. My wife and I shared a large pot and unlike some posters, we only paid for the broth in total. We were not charged 2x for the broth.

3. It's AYCE. I had it clarified that even though the tick sheet only has 3 rounds on it, if you are still hungry after a 3rd round, you just have to ask for a new tick sheet. This is to save paper. Again, it's AYCE!

Ok, for the review I have to say that I was quite surprised. I live in the Peel Region (Brampton) and having to drive to my go-to place (Kam Toa) isn't always conducive. Also they don't serve lunch.

Having a craving for hot pot, I decided to give it a shot even though the place has been opened for a number of years already after the congee place closed, and Golden City prior to that.

Ok; the meat is delicious. Beef, pork and lamb are very nicely sliced. Not too thick and not too thin. While frozen it cooked in seconds in the boiling broth. The garlic chicken and marinated beef are also quite good and was quite surprised. But they are thicker cuts and will fill quicker.

The pork dumplings are made quite well and don't fall apart in the broth.

It's nice to see wood ear mushrooms and they are quite tasty with a null fat count. Interesting texture.

The choice of sauces are good...you serve yourselves and there is a map of what sauce is which. By default there are no raw eggs as sauce thickeners, but you can ask your server free of charge.

Make sure to occasionally ask you server to refill your hot pot with broth or just add water. As it boils down, it dues become quite salty and concentrated...so keeping it diluted and topped up helps maintain the flavour.

The deserts are good, but for this there is only one round(?). I didn't confirm whether we could get more and will ask next time. As there will be a next time.

For the dinner choices, I didn't see THAT much a difference in the augmented menu, well; enough to justify the difference but that's just me. (You can check the images of the menu (items in red are for dinner)).

Oh...to continue about desserts...they have four choices: Green Tea Ice Cream Red Bean Ice Cream (very creamy) Sesame Balls (ours were warm and soft) Deep fried Chinese Buns drizzled in condensed milk. Quite nice and a recommend to try... unless you're diabetic.

There isn't much to choose from for ayce Mongolian Hot Pot in the Peel Region other than here and Morals. I'm more inclined to come back because now I know what to expect. But I think that I may have to try Morals to be able to leave a fair and comparative review.

After tax and tip...just over $50.00 (I over tipped but I'm not complaining) it would be a place is go back to if I have a lunch time craving for AYCE hot pot on a day off.

The place was really busy and it’s because it was a Saturday night. We had to wait for around 20 minutes to be seated. The place is really big though and the food smell is to the point. We were four friends that night looking forward to a good good warm soupy meal. Our turn finally came for the table and we were seated at the very back close to the bathroom and our table and the floor was really dirty. There was leftover food all over from the previous guests and it didn’t feel good to be there right that instant. Our server did apologize about the mess and without saying she’d have it cleaned, she was asking us if we were okay to sit in that mess or if we wanted it cleaned!!!!!! We of course said it has to be cleaned else we don’t want to sit there. That seemed to have angered her a bit! Wow!!! It seemed like she wanted us to pay a lot of money for the food and enjoy it while sitting in filth! We were going to walk away if she had not cleaned it up quickly. She then gave us the menu. It was our first time there and we didn’t know how the order would go. It was really hard to understand the menu and even when she explained it, it wasn’t so clear as she didn’t speak English well. She didn’t understand our questions so we had to google the menu and the reviews to understand how the order worked. We figured out that it was an all you can eat hot pot place and it’s quite expensive. It’s around $40 per person and it has 3 rounds of whatever you choose. The soup, whichever one you order, is an extra $5-$7. And when you do ask for a refill, they either just add water or very light soy milk which completely ruins the flavor of the soup. We had ordered one small chicken broth spicy soup and one medium tomato soup. The spicy soup is way better! The meat and the veggies that go into it are pretty standard, and similar to the ones you get at Korean bbq places. The only difference is, you pay so much and still it’s very strict when it comes to ordering round by round. I’m not an expert here, but when you say it’s all you can eat and you can only order three rounds, it’s a rip off compared to other all you can eat places which are far less expensive. Our server was very rude too because believe me, being our first time there, we had questions, not too many but a few, and it only annoyed her. I understand that after having so much of soup, you can’t force yourself to eat more but for someone who has a bigger appetite, it could be disappointing. The only two good thing about that place is the parking spaces available right outside it, and the canned coca colas! The bathroom is not clean and the experience is not good at all, when your server is in a mood! I wouldn’t recommend this place and I won’t...

One of the few Hot Pot restaurants in Mississauga. Due to the nature of the cuisine, it could be a fairly long wait, arrive before 6pm when it is not as busy. There is no time limit but the menu has three rounds for you to order ingredients. Service is straightforward but does feel slightly understaffed (even with the robot delivering ingredients). Also, they recently changed to a self-serve cooked food and hot pot dishes.

Usually, a hot pot involves a simmering pot of broth placed in the centre of the dining table. However, their table arrangements vary and can come with a single centre hot plate or can come with individual hot plates for each person. They have a tiny sauce bar for you to create a dipping sauce for your meal. Unfortunately, they cannot move around or merge tables due to the static nature of their hot pot equipment.

Their paper menu is fairly clear for ordering three rounds of ingredients and one round of desserts. The staff will indicate which part of the menu your meal can order from. You order the soup base which is a separate cost in addition to the per-person price. We had the clear soup base and it was fairly tasty with various herbs! Also, the menu has additional cost items like premium ingredients and beverages. Diners can cook a variety of raw ingredients, such as meat, seafood, and vegetables, to their desired level of doneness. The portion sizes are fairly generous and clearly indicated on the menu for the number of pieces per order. The dessert "ice cream" was actually Melona bar (we got Ube flavour). Note, if you like eating a raw egg with hot pot, you can ask them for some as it is not indicated on the menu.

The robot sometimes comes by to support the staff members which is very cute. It rings and indicates that it will be coming around. Staff are responsive but require waving for service. Also, for paying you can go up to the cashier desk to pay via credit card. Overall, a great experience with...
