I found out about this restaurant through my landlord, and I made a reservation for the buffet at 7 PM today over the phone—yes, a buffet! I arrived at the restaurant at 6:55 PM and started my meal.
For my first plate, I took some potato stew with beef, a piece of cheese-baked chicken, some meatballs with potatoes, and I finished everything. Then, I went for my second plate, which was cake and some desserts. After finishing that, I was about to get my third plate.
And that’s when the drama happened: The restaurant owner walked up to me and said something. Since I’m a foreigner and my English isn’t perfect, I didn’t fully understand, but I thought he was saying that in their culture, desserts and main dishes shouldn’t be mixed. So, I went to get my third plate, which was similar to my first one.
After finishing that, the grilled chicken was finally ready. I was about to go get some when the owner suddenly told me I couldn’t take more… But at this point, I had only been in the restaurant for about 25 minutes. I told him I hadn’t even tried the grilled chicken yet and asked if I could take a few pieces to taste. He agreed, so I took five pieces.
Then, he walked up to me and said, “Although this is a buffet, you can’t eat here for 20 days. This is our culture. You’ve already taken food five times, you can’t keep taking more!”
Although he was polite, I still felt offended because from the moment I started eating to the time I left, it was only 30 minutes! Plus, the advertisement clearly stated that this was a buffet for 29.9 per person, and I didn’t see any rules saying that each person could only take food once! At the beginning, neither the chicken nor the beef was even ready, so I couldn’t take them. And the owner never mentioned before the meal that there was a limit on how many times we could get food!
This was really disappointing. I believe that as long as I don’t waste food, I should be able to take whatever I want because it was advertised as a buffet. Also, I never took large portions. The two pictures below show the food I took—I originally planned to recommend this place to my friends, so I took some photos.
This meal was very unpleasant for me. The food was delicious, and the owner was nice, but I still found this situation completely unreasonable. If you advertise a buffet, then guests should be able to take whatever they want. I didn’t waste any food, so why was I stopped from taking more?

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Mevlana Turkish Restaurant, a charming Turkish eatery located in the heart of downtown Mississauga. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the warm, inviting atmosphere and the delightful aroma of Turkish spices wafting through the air.
The decor is a perfect blend of traditional and modern, with intricate Turkish tiles adorning the walls and soft, ambient lighting creating a cozy environment. The staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive, providing excellent service throughout the evening. Food: The menu at Mevlana Turkish Restaurant is extensive, offering a wide variety of authentic Turkish dishes. I started with the Mezze Platter, which featured a delicious assortment of hummus, baba ghanoush, and dolmas. Each item was fresh and flavorful, providing a great introduction to the meal.
For the main course, I opted for the Shish Kebab. The meat was perfectly cooked—tender and juicy, with a delightful char that added to its flavor. It was served with fragrant rice and a refreshing side salad. My dining companion chose the Iskender Kebab, which was equally impressive. The combination of thinly sliced lamb, tangy tomato sauce, and creamy yogurt was simply divine.
We couldn't resist trying the delicious sweet for dessert. The layers of flaky pastry, filled with chopped nuts and sweetened with honey syrup, were a perfect end to the meal. It was paired with a cup of traditional Turkish tea, which added an authentic touch.
Service: The service at Mevlana Turkish Restaurant was top-notch. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations. The pacing of the meal was perfect, allowing us to enjoy each course without feeling rushed.
Ambiance: The ambiance of the restaurant is both lively and comfortable. Whether you're dining with family, friends, or on a romantic date, the setting is suitable for any occasion. Live Turkish music on weekends adds an extra layer of authenticity and enjoyment to the experience.
Conclusion: Mevlana Turkish Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone looking to experience authentic Turkish cuisine in Mississauga. The combination of delicious food, excellent service, and a warm atmosphere makes it a standout dining destination. I look forward to returning and exploring more...
Read moreI’ve never written a review for a restaurant wether positive or negative. But the deplorable behaviour of the owner of this restaurant cannot just go unpunished. The very least I can do is an honest review to warn other people. I went to the dinner buffet. First of all the variety at the buffet is much less than the videos on instagram and it was obvious that the owner was being stingy. I ate a plate of salads and a plate from the main course dishes. While I was going for another plate the extremely rude owner approached me and told me that I will have to pay for 2 people not 1 (just me), implying that I’m not welcome in the restaurant because apparently he’s too stingy and monitoring the customer’s quantities of food and he didn’t like that I was going for another plate. I was shocked to be honest on the rudeness as I was never treated like this in any restaurant ever in my life. Anyway I told him what are you talking about? Pay you 60plus dollars for this? and why should I? His solution was that I leave the plate in my hand which was already full and leave the restaurant immediately if I wanted to pay just for one person. I was paralyzed for a few seconds and I couldn’t believe what’s happening. I payed and on my way out I told him you lost a lot of people that I was planning to tell about this Turkish buffet. His answer was “I have enough people alhamdolillaah (meaning: Thanks God) Leave now” and he kicked me out! How is this man even allowed to treat customers this way and get away with it?!! Besides the food overall quality was less than average, 5 out 10 max. But I hadn’t tried some items, and that’s why I was going for a refill. My advice is to read the other negative reviews as apparently I’m not the only one complaining of the rudeness of this entitled man. Plus this mediocre dinner buffet is definitely not worth $30++ Spend your money somewhere else where they will appreciate your business and give you good...
