I rarely write reviews, but the appalling treatment my husband and I received at naan kabob the Mississauga 5042 satellite dr location on December 8th demands to be shared. From the moment we walked in, it was clear this establishment was being run in a completely chaotic and unprofessional manner. Upon arrival, we were ignored entirely just looked at with no greeting, no acknowledgment, nothing obviously until we had to go over to the desk and ask for assistance despite the restaurant being far from busy. We seated ourselves, and when we did, the table was dirty. We ordered our food, which arrived alarmingly fast, but that is nothing compared to us finding a long, thick black hair directly on top of my chicken and rice. Both my husband and I have short, light brown hair so this was clearly not ours. When we tried to bring this to the attention of one of the staff members, an Indian woman, she completely ignored us and acted annoyed when we called her over and told the other girl in the hijab to come over to us. She took the plate, but instead of offering an apology or any semblance of care, all we received was a quick “I’ll bring you a new one." No empathy, no recognition of how disgusting and unprofessional this situation was. The worst part? They had the nerve to send a child-sized mango smoothie to our table as an apparent apology, despite us already having ordered two full-sized of that mango smoothie. It was beyond absurd. To top it off, when we looked over at the staff including the chefs and the waitress in the hijab and the Indian girl were laughing and joking about the incident while making rude gestures—laughing about a hair in someone's food, no less—I was left speechless. The new dish was thrown on our table with zero professionalism or apology, and the staff continued to glare at us as we ate, making the experience even more uncomfortable. The final insult came when I politely asked for a to-go box. The waitress, standing just feet away, rolled her eyes, gestured "what?" Or “yes” instead of coming over when I had asked two other staff to call her over, we asked for to- go boxes and she was annoyed pointing to a table statint they are right there and to get your own when we had no knowledge of them being there because we couldn’t see them, she then acted as though fetching the box was a monumental task, before tossing it on the table in the most dismissive manner possible.I’ve never experienced such blatant disregard for customer satisfaction, let alone basic decency, in a restaurant. This establishment needs an entire overhaul of its staff and operations. There are many better afghan restaurants in the GTA with amazing customer service, food, staff. The food at naan kabob was mediocre at best, and the service? Unbelievably atrocious. I strongly urge anyone considering dining here to think twice. There is no excuse for such a disgraceful display of...
Read moreThis Naan Kabob in Spectrum Square is one of several locations situated in the GTA, including Toronto, Scarborough, Mississauga, and Woodbridge. The ambiance of this location is very bright, spacious, and exudes a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The clarity of the menu is very well done, with a visually appealing display of food and dishes. Service was excellent, and we would come back to try more items on the menu!
The menu offers a diverse selection, including Starters, Exotic Highlights (such as Chana Masala and Qabli Lamb Shank), Group Platters, Grilled Kabob Plates, Grilled Kabob Wraps, Desserts, and Drinks. Importantly, there are lots of indicators for Gluten-Free and Vegan options, making it easier for customers with specific dietary preferences. During our visit, we ordered the NK Grill Plate, Sultani Kabob Plate with a Qabli Rice upgrade, Paneer Plate, and Mango Smoothies. The NK Grill Plate provided a good sampling of various meats, including Tandoori Chicken, Shami Kabob (ground beef), and Classic Chicken, all of which were cooked without being dry. The Sultani Kabob Plate featured a Beef Tikka Skewer made from AAA Beef Sirloin and Shami Kabob, both of which were also well-prepared. The Paneer Plate offered a flavourful alternative protein option with paneer paired with grilled eggplant. The kabob dip and hot sauce were excellent additions to the meats and rice. Additionally, the naan was served hot prior to the meal, enhancing the overall experience.
There is a lot of dining space, with an L-shaped area arrangement that accommodates lots of group sizes. The restroom is conveniently located at the end of the dining area. Orders are taken at the front by the cashier, and the billing process is transparent, clearly indicating the GST (A) and HST (B) taxes on the receipt. The restaurant accepts card payments. The service was excellent with very attentive staff who frequently checked in during the meal from start to finish. While parking is somewhat limited due to ongoing construction in the plaza, there are approximately ten available spots. However, dining after corporate working hours allows for more parking options nearby, making it easier for customers to dine at...
Read moreThis review is for the Iftar buffet only.
During our visit, the restaurant was full, every one seated patiently waiting. The restaurant it self is brightly lit & beautifully decorated. The buffet spread is at the back of the restaurant down a narrow pathway leading to prayer area & bathrooms.
There were dates and bolani already on the each of the tables so you have something to eat while waiting (great gesture, however it’s not warm & we didn’t fill ourselves up). A staff member was walking up to the tables one by one asking them to go to get food, you know like they do at some weddings.
We patiently waited until it was our turn. We finally turned the corner to see that there was a long line up. Not only was it uncomfortable for all those patiently waiting in line but all the patrons sitting at the tables along the wall with people standing behind them hovering. I was constantly in the way of someone trying to access the bathroom, or prayer area.
The food spread itself consisted of soup, fried items, many, salad, multiple rice dishes, a staff member managing the meat section, etc.
The food was not warm by the time we got to eating which was now about 38-40mins post breaking fast. The food tasted fine.
Most restaurants are hosting buffets for Ramadan this year despite lacking the adequate space to lay out the buffet spread. Maybe they should consider a better lay out plan. Upon paying, I was asked twice how I liked the experience etc & if I could leave a google review. I asked if they were indeed interested in my response.
I shared my honest feedback on the spot, the food isn’t the issue, but if you are hosting iftars buffets, filling up a whole restaurant, charging competitive rates, it isn’t just about the food, it’s an experience. You know everyone will be breaking fast around the same time give or take, The current lay out just isn’t working, it’s tight, both of them agreed with my statement.
Tbh, I’ll probably avoid Iftar buffets going forward. Paid...
