I never expected to give a 1 star to this restaurant, which used to be my among my favourite Indian restaurants. Not any more though!

We frequently ordered as well as went for dine-in at this place until they disappointed us twice in the last one month. We ordered lunch for our office on Diwali. The food was not up to mark.

Our favourite Paneer Tikka Masala was a complete watery gravy with little Paneer that was tasteless. The Veg. Jalfrezi I ordered, had no flavour too. My other two colleagues had ordered Chicken Tikka Masala and Chicken Fried Rice. Their feedback was that both the dishes were below average. Our order included 1 box of Basmati Rice. Our Uber Eats order qualified for 2 free samosas so we expected to get 1 box containing 2 samosas. Instead of sending Rice, they sent 2 samosa! When we called back to tell about the missing rice, instead of apologizing, they said they did this since rice and samosas use the same kind of box so they did this mistake! So instead of samosa + rice, they send 2 box samosa! Do they not even check what they are sending to customers?

Today was a horrific experience. Me and my colleague ordered Aloo Tikki Chat and Veg. Fried Momos on Uber Eats. The Aloo Tikki Chat was too thick and not up to the mark. My colleague still decided to eat it anyway.

The Momos were drenched in oil, half-cooked, raw as well as half of them were broken and partially burnt as can be seen in the picture. Anyone could easily say they were not fried at the right temperature and for the right time.

The ordeal still continues. I called them and went back and gave the food back. I asked for a refund, however to my shock, the server said they can’t give refund as it was placed on Uber Eats! All they could do is to replace it with some other dish. I said how come they can’t refund when they already billed me for something that now I am returning it to them because of its quality. It shouldn’t matter whether the order was placed through the restaurant’s website or Uber Eats! Imagine, they had already wasted my 1 hour before and now when I drove all the way back to get refund their initial response was we can't refund or else will have to wait until their Manager is in at 3:00 PM! I said I don’t wish to order any food from this place and requested for a refund. Finally the server went inside to talk to their staff and came back and gave me the refund.

Angara was one of our top picks for Indian cuisins. Sadly, with both these recent incidences, looks like not only the food quality, but their customer service too seems...

We celebrated Mother’s Day here after reading the reviews. There was a bit of wait to get seated but it wasn’t too long.

It’s a small place with may be around 15 tables but it isn’t cramped..

For appetizers, we ordered Veg Tandoori Momos and Angara Veg Platter which came with Paneer Pakora, Onion Pakora, and samosas and hara bhara kebab. It was accompanied by mint/ tamarind/ schezwan chutney. The platter was spot-on - packed with flavour and right amount of crunch. The momos were also very good.

For mains, we ordered Shahi Paneer, Angara Special Paneer, Dal Makhani, along with Garlic Naan, Amritsari Kulcha, and Methi Mirchi Naan. Angara Special Panner was one of the best we ever had. The gravy was very different from what you usually get in other places— it was spicy, tangy, and a little bit sweet— the perfect balance of flavours. Shahi Paneer was great; it was very yummy with the right amount of Paneer (this is a comment from my Son). Dal Makhani was alright, nothing special. Both the Naan’s were soft yet crunchy, thin and sumptuous. Amritsari Kulcha was alright.

Our only gripe was that it took a long time for the food to come..

Remember that the potion sizes are huge and we have leftover enough for tomorrow’s lunch (lol). Our party included 3 adults and a youth.

Overall great experience and will come back to try their non...

AMBIANCE A group of us (all ex Mumbaikars) visited Angara (Etobicoke) for the first time for lunch today. At first glance the restaurant is a simple friendly place with pleasant decor and ambiance and very pleasant staff. STAFF & SERVICE We were a group of 5 and were welcomed by our server MYRA who was very polite, pleasant and efficient and we were seated with 2 tables joined together, and we were very comfortable. There was only one other server at the time and she too was very helpful. FOOD The menu was surprisingly substantial with a great many choices and we ordered the following: Chicken Tikka: Nicely flavoured tender chunks of chicken breast. 9/10 Shrimp Korma: Perfect Korma curry but the portion was a bit small and the shrimp was just slightly overcooked. 7/10 Chef Special Lamb Angara: Rich in flavour and sizling beautifully when served. 10/10 Dum-a-dum Mast Lamb Biryani: Really good and very reasonable portioning and very adequate amount of lamb. 9/10 Butter Naan: Outright perfect! Hot and crispy when served (both times). 10/10 Gulab Jamun (3 Pieces - served cold as I prefered) - 10/10 Rasmalai (3 Pieces) - 10/10.

Overall experience was GREAT! ...

We visited Angara Restaurant on a friend’s recommendation. When we arrived, the place wasn’t crowded, but within 15 minutes, it was full. It's definitely a sign of its popularity. We ordered hara bhara kabab, dry manchurian, kaju masala, dal tadka, butter roti, and garlic naan. While most of the dishes were good, the hara bhara kababs were a disappointment, overly fried, and not up to the mark compared to others we’ve tried elsewhere. However, the dry manchurian and the rest of the items made up for it with their flavors. Our server, Sonam, stood out for her excellent service. She noticed our dissatisfaction with the kababs and, without us even mentioning it, offered a special discount at the end of the meal. This gesture really impressed us. One downside was the demeanor of the girl at the drinks counter. Customers see her the first when entering, but she kept a poker face and didn’t engage with customers, which left a slightly negative impression right at the start. Overall, Angara Restaurant is a good place to dine with tasty food and attentive service. A little improvement in customer interaction and quality consistency could make it even better.
