Wow, wow, wow! What an incredible experience at Zaatargy. On Sunday, we decided to try this place for breakfast after hearing so many good things about it — and let me tell you, it was one of the best decisions we’ve made in a long time. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, everything about this restaurant impressed us — the food, the service, the atmosphere, and the overall energy of the place. When we got there, it was completely packed, which is always a good sign. You could immediately feel the buzz — families, friends, and couples all enjoying their morning together over freshly baked manakeesh and authentic Lebanese breakfast dishes. Despite how busy it was, we were lucky enough to find a table for six, and the staff quickly got us seated and made us feel welcome. The service at Zaatargy is truly something special. Even with a full house, the servers were friendly, attentive, and efficient. They moved with purpose but never made anyone feel rushed. Orders were taken quickly, food came out surprisingly fast, and everything was served with a smile. You could tell this team works like a well-oiled machine — they genuinely care about their customers and take pride in what they do. Now, onto the food, which was the real star of the show. We decided to go all out and ordered almost everything on the breakfast menu — and every single dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. We started with a variety of manakeesh — zaatar, cheese, and meat pies — each baked to perfection. The zaatar was perfectly seasoned with just the right balance of thyme, sesame, and olive oil, served on warm, soft dough that was slightly crisp around the edges. The cheese manakeesh was rich and creamy with that comforting stretch of melted cheese you just can’t resist. The meat pies (lahm bi ajin) were flavorful and juicy, with the perfect blend of spices that instantly took me back to the authentic flavors of Lebanon. We also ordered the sujouk and eggs, which were absolutely amazing — the sujouk had that perfect spicy kick, and the eggs were cooked just right. The foul mdamas was perfectly seasoned with garlic, lemon, and olive oil, creamy in texture and full of flavor. The fatteh was another standout dish — warm chickpeas layered with crispy pita, creamy yogurt, and pine nuts on top — pure comfort food done right. And of course, we couldn’t skip the hummus, which was smooth, rich, and drizzled with just the right amount of olive oil. Every bite tasted homemade, fresh, and authentic. What I loved most was that everything came out hot and fresh, even though the place was jam-packed. The quality and consistency were impressive — you could tell that everything is made from scratch and with care. The restaurant itself is bright, clean, and welcoming. The décor is modern yet cozy, with a real Middle Eastern touch that makes you feel at home. Even though it was busy, the atmosphere was cheerful and lively — you could hear people chatting in Arabic and English, enjoying their food and morning coffee. It really felt like being at a Lebanese breakfast spot back home, filled with laughter, aromas of freshly baked dough, and the warmth of good company. What stood out to me the most, beyond the food and service, was the attention to detail. Plates were presented beautifully, everything was spotless, and even small things like refilling water or checking if we needed anything were done promptly. The entire experience felt effortless — a sign of great management and a dedicated team. Zaatargy is the kind of place that makes you want to come back again and again. Whether you’re going for a casual breakfast, a weekend family outing, or introducing friends to authentic Lebanese cuisine, this restaurant truly delivers. Every dish tastes like it was made with love and pride...
Read moreThis place has great potential, if only someone would stop for 2 mins and organize things. The food is great, fresh and very tasty, but no one has any idea what they're doing there. I went there with my director for lunch and at the door it says "Please wait to be seated", so we were standing around and waiting. I asked one of the workers if we should just go in and grab a table, he said he would be with us in a minute and he was running around and at the cash register for almost 10 mins, I asked another employee, who told me I need to line up at the cashier and he would help me. We then lined up and ordered our food and just advised the guy where we would be sitting. He looked at the table and said ok. After waiting for almost 15 mins at our table, a salad and chicken fatteh arrived. Umm...except that was not what we had ordered. We were debating whether to just eat it and avoid the fuss of arguing that's not what we had ordered, when one of the waiters rushed to our table and said sorry, that's not yours. Okie! After 10 mins, the original employee came over and asked us to remind him what we had ordered! So now we sat and waited another 20 mins and were thinking that they had forgotten our order completely when we finally got our food (without the water that we had requested). Anyways, long story short, we enjoyed the food that had taken us almost one hour to get and packed the rest to go. The quality of the food was great and we both enjoyed it, but if they want to remain in business, they need to improve their service! I was not the only one who was lost and had no idea what was going on with their order, for while I was there, I chatted with another gentleman who was in the same boat as us!
I would suggest to use table #s so they can track which order is going to which table, and note down the table # when taking the order. Then maybe check the order of each customer and make sure they were provided with everything that they asked for? And get rid of that sign at the entrance that says wait to be seated. And maybe...
Read moreMy brother-in-law told us about this joint, and he’d raved about the spicy sujuk and the meat manaeesh. So I went over about 7:30pm (they close at 8pm) to pick up dinner one day. Ordered the spicy sujuk for my wife and was about to order another for myself when the Labneh with vegetables caught my eye.
Now I’ve grown up in the Middle East and had my fair share of manaeesh, but labneh with vegetables or لبنه كامل was always my favorite. This one from Cheezaatar is the best I’ve ever had. Like you can see in the image, It’s loaded with labneh, cucumber, olives, tomato, zaatar and sumac. And the best part is the mint on top, which single-handedly makes this my number one labneh man’oush. My wife wasn’t particularly a labneh fan, but after this, she’s hooked.
The spicy sujuk (sorry I forgot to take a pic as that disappeared into our tummies first), is a massive man’oush; spicy, rich and fatty meat cut with sour briny pickles, fresh tomato, topped with garlic and tahini sauces. At $9.99, the spicy sujuk is a steal for the amount of food. It’s essentially a massive yummy sandwich, and it’s way better value and nice contrast/change from the plethora of amazing shawarmas proliferating Mississauga.
So now my wife and I do this: each eat half of the spicy sujuk, and then freshen up the palate with half of the labneh with vegetables man’oush.
I’m so happy Cheezaatar exists and I pray they get more business in the future. The parking space is more than plenty. The place is surely busier during lunchtime I hope, being surrounded by the Bell complex, the Canada Post sorting facility and other major offices.
Will surely go there one day with the family, and I definitely want to check out their other items. I highly recommend this place. To all those looking for a gluten positive space, check this restaurant out. You...
