Took my family here for brunch today and it was their first time. I personally had nothing but positive eating experiences here several times in the past (Never had a problem with this place until today). Today's experience was just disastrous, customer service wise. Once we were seated (at the corner near the kitchen/cashier) and received the menus, no waiter seemed to come and acknowledge us or ask us for what drinks to start off/if we're ready to order (you know the basics of dining in). They just kept skipping over us. It was as if no waiter was assigned to us. After 15 minutes of waiting and thinking maybe one will finally come to our table, we had to stop one (since they kept zooming past by) and tell them we're ready to order. I understand if they're understaffed, and we were patient, however a bit more improvement on the organization (ie, which waiter is mindful of which table(s) they're assigned to) and be more attentive towards who was just seated so they can be introduced to their designated waiter at a reasonable time. No customer, in a dine-in style type of place, should have to go out of their way to stop a random waiter passing by just to tell them we're ready to order, let alone wait for a waiter to come at an unreasonable time. Finally our designated waiter came and it seemed she lacked basic customer service skills - wasn't on top of it compared to the other waiters' behaviour as I noticed. They were busy too, but at least they each checked on their tables + came around with coffee refills regularly. No major complaints about the food other than it took my dad's order a while, but whatever. Since our waiter hardly checked up on us, it took a while to ask for our cheques and take-out boxes. Overall, my parents and I were really disappointed at the...
Read moreService was good. The waitress was attentive, with enough trips to our table to ensure we had everything to enjoy our breakfast. Our food came to our table quickly and hot.
As someone else said, today we were a couple and got seated in a table for 4 people, which seemed odd. For the size of the plates, condiments side dishes, coffee, juice, etc., a table for two people would seem over crowded and not comfortable. A table for 4 people was perfect. So, when you come to this restaurant, don't expect to see 2 people on a table for two, they're too small.
The portions of food were normal. We did find that the waffles were overpriced, especially when the waffle batter was the same as the pancake batter, but lighter. Sure, they're both made with flour, eggs, sugar and fats, but they are not the same thing. There's more fats and sugar in a waffle, to make them crispy and for caramelization. To me, it's being cheap, on the decision of the cooks and owner, not to want to take the time to create two separate batters, one for pancakes and one for waffles. At this restaurant you can order a side of four pancakes and pay less than an order for a single "classic waffle".
I recommend this restaurant, for the service, wait staff and food selection. On the weekends, expect to wait,...
Read moreToday, as my wife and friends went for breakfast, we were sat outside. It was fine we were outside as the weather was nice although super sunny. We were sat beside an umbrella that served shade for one group although we were told it was supposed to be for both groups. Now my wife being pregnant I wanted to keep her cool and comfortable so I politely asked to shift the umbrella over to accommodate both groups, mainly my wife, as it doesn't cover both groups fully. Teara, who was as helpful as she could said she would help move it over. Understaffed, I understood that she couldn't get back to us right away. Later Stephanie came out and lied to us saying the umbrella is fixed. I didn't believe this as I looked at the mechanism and you can clearly shift the umbrella over. I politely apologize to the family beside us as it may look as if I'm stealing the umbrella completely away, and let them know I just wanted to shield my pregnant wife from the sun. Stephanie yells over in a rude tone telling me it doesn't move, when it was already moving as I was turning it. She is clearly stressed and cannot accommodate a pregnant woman who is sitting in the sun. Food was good but service was slow. In the end, its a shame such poor service...
