Well, me and a coworker decided to pick up from Quik Chik Heartland today. There was good and bad.
Good: place was very clean. service was prompt for taking the order. The chicken, gravy and biscuit were excellent.
Bad: Fries are pretty generic seasoned frozen fries. They forgot my coworker's ranch dip for her strips. Time between paying for order and getting food was crazy long, considering there was only one other customer, and they appeared to already have their food.
So, I arrived around 1:20pm, orders were placed and paid by 1:24pm. Nothing fancy, no special requests.3pc mild combo w added gravy. 5pc regular chicken strips combo. They said it would be "a few minutes". "A few minutes" turned into...22 minutes. The young lady who took my order was pleasant, although she did seem to have trouble understanding me a couple times (Canadian English speaker for 5 decades, no accent).
Finally got the chow, hopped back in the car to go back to the office. Get back, unpack, coworker discovers that her chicken strip combo has no dipping sauce. My bad for not checking before I left, I guess. Really didn't think I'd need to when I was the only person ordering, and nobody else came in and ordered before i got my order (although i suppose there could've been a DD/STD/UE order or two coming in). Anyway.
The chicken, once you finally get it, is delicious and juicy. The breading is seasoned well, more similar to Popeye's than KFC, I'd say. The Cajun Fries were just ok. Pretty standard fastfoood/pub frozen seasoned fries. My colleague really enjoyed the biscuits. Soft, buttery and fluffy. The gravy is excellent, whether you use it as a condiment for the fries, or as a dip for the chicken. It complements both very well. The chicken, biscuit and gravy were so good, I ain't even deducting a star off the food rating for the generic fries. The service rating gets a 1, because while the staff were pleasant, they forgot an item, and the service time was unacceptable. Atmosphere gets a 3, because it was clean, but very generic and blah. Almost no decor or visual points of interest if one were dining in.
Summary: Quik Chik ain't quick. At least not at Heartland. If we go for it again, I'll place an order online and pick it up 20...

Read moreVisited the Heartland location, this was my second time at Quik Chik, the other time being at the Milton location. I walked in on my lunch break at work and there was no one in the restaurant. The girl at the counter moved quite slow, but this did not bother me initially. My coworker and I placed our orders and proceeded to wait. I ordered chicken strips and fries while my coworker ordered the 4PC fried chicken meal. As we waited we couldn't help but notice that the service was ANYTHING but quick. In fact I would go so far as to say I have never seen such slow service at a fast food restaurant. The fried chicken was ready when we walked in and it took 10-15 minutes for it to be placed into a box. Let me reiterate, there were no other customers. I've seen snails move faster than the cook in the back. For a company that has "quik" right in its name, it was pretty disgraceful and I will not be returning to this location even though it is right beside my work. The food is passable but like others have said, not nearly as good as Popeye's. You're much better off...
