On a busy night, we knew possibly we had to wait, even with reservations. But we never thought it would take so long. Being diligent in booking reservations in advance, only for the restaurant to drop the ball on keeping its patrons moving in a timely and orderly manner. It brings two questions to mind, “ what’s the point of booking reservations? ” And “ are there no seated time limits to each table? ”
After hunting the hostess down the third time, who’s dodging and hiding from all the faithful diners waiting patiently-to-impatiently for an update to their tables respectively. Was I finally able to get seated after she sat others with reservations later than mine, after waiting an hour over my reservation booking.
Patiently waiting for any service to show up at our table for 10 min, did we insist on who our server was? and if we could actually get some water / service for the table? The result, they forgot my water still, until I brought it up. If it weren’t for my obligations of having family guests with me, I would have wholeheartedly got up and left this restaurant. Sadly, I had to endure for what was still to come.
The portions were Costco-sample sized and over half of the ordered items never showed. At this point it sounds like a scam. Cause you place your order for bites of food to share between 6 people, that takes a long time for all of it to show, and when you try to order more they tell you the kitchen is shutting down and they take your iPad away. But wait! They’re still charging you full price cause they can’t tell time when reservations should be abided by, and they love to keep you waiting at the front like they couldn’t care less for your business.
I get shafted with no prior warning that last call was happening within 45 min of my being seated.
Whose problem is it when they can’t seat their patrons at the proper “reserved” times? And additionally where was the communication letting all those waiting diners past 8pm that the kitchen was closing in less than an hour? If I were told at least I could have had a more satisfying meal elsewhere if it weren’t for my obligations with visiting family for ultimately such a lacklustre & disappointment experience.
At the end, paid a big bill and left hungry. All my years of frequenting Spoon & Fork, the other locations are far superior in food quality & service than this location. Definitely never coming back here again and embarrassed to bring or recommend any of my friends & family to this one.

Read moreJust want to start by saying that I have been here previously and had a phenomenal experience. The food and ambience were great.
But this evening's experience was so incredibly disappointing. First, we walked into the restaurant at 9:50pm on a Saturday. The greeter told us about their last call for dim sum being at 10pm and for the rest of the food being at 10:15pm, and she encouraged us to order quickly. We got to our seats and another server reiterated the last call time and encouraged us to "order everything". We quickly ordered everything that we wanted to order off the menu and the food start coming out from the kitchen. Tasted great, no complaints about the food itself.
What happened after that is when everything really went downhill. Around 10:40pm a server (tall Asian male with glasses) told us that they would be closing soon and asked if we'd be okay paying the bill now. Not a problem. But then he noticed that we still had a number of food items that hadn't been eaten yet (we were still rushing to finish as much as we could) and said that he could bring takeout boxes to the table and that normally they would charge for leftover food but given that there was so much food leftover, he'd just let us take it home. First of all, we were still eating; we were not done yet. Second of all, he did not CLEARLY state that REGARDLESS of whether we take the leftover food home in take out boxes OR let it go to waste, they would charge us. He brought us the bill and we were stunned to see a $25 fee for not finishing all the food DESPITE THE FACT THAT WE WERE CLEARLY NOT FINISHED YET AND WE HAD INDICATED THAT WE WERE STILL TRYING TO FINISH THE FOOD. We asked the same server about this charge and he then replied back to us with ATTITUDE that "oh whether you take the food home or we throw it out we are still gonna charge you" (this isn't what you communicated the first time!!!). We asked him what must we finish to not get charged, to which he responded by acting fed up, pissed off, and frustrated with us, throwing his hands in the air in frustration, and said "if you guys can finish THIS, THIS, AND THAT by the time we close then you won't get charged" in a condescending tone. We finished all the dishes he indicated BY 11PM WHEN THEY CLOSE and he came back later laughing saying in a mocking tone "oh you guys actually finished it all, that's soo impressive". We left at 11:03, 3 minutes after they closed.
I have never had a server ever speak to me in such a condescending, unprofessional tone. The servers were so pushy and it's clear they were trying to rush us out at 11pm right on the dot (even though there were two other tables still there at the restaurant). Look, I get you want to go home after a long shift. However this is not the way to treat a paying customer who you can see is trying their best to finish all their food before closing time. I have never been to an establishment that forced customers out like this RIGHT ON THE DOT, and threw attitude at the customers when they were still eating a couple minutes BEFORE closing time. You made us feel like we were not welcomed. It's unprofessional, it's rude, and it's downright disappointing. If you didn't want us eating til closing time, the hostess should have turned us away when we arrived or at the very least communicated to us clearly that they closed right at 11pm and that they'd charge for any food that hadn't been eaten at that time. Don't tell us to "order quickly" and to "order everything" off the menu and then give us attitude and attempt to kick us out a couple minutes before closing time and force a charge for any uneaten food that you encouraged us to order in the first place.
To the tall Asian server with glasses - work on your attitude and customer service skills, buddy. Thanks to you we gave zero tip, and will not...
Read moreBEWARE OF FOOD POISONING! I visited the new Spoon and Fork Mississauga location on the evening of Saturday March 23rd. I very much regret not reading reviews before coming to this place. I assumed that because it opened in December that the service and food would be well taken care of. Only 4 months after, and after reading others’ opinions, it looks like many customers can agree with me.
The chicken dim sum was food court quality with the filling containing cartilage and very chewy meat. I also ate their California roll sushi, Philadelphia salmon sushi, Dynamite roll (deep fried shrimp, tobiko, avocado, crab cake, cucumber with spicy sauce), White Dragon roll (!! HORRIBLE - each piece was topped with oil fish - banned in Japan for a reason: also contained deep fried shrimp, tobiko).
Puddings (mango and strawberry) were covered in syrups that would be taken during sickness. Sesame ball was mediocre. Hardly any flavour.
IMMEDIATELY EXPERIENCED PINS AND NEEDLES IN ABDOMEN AFTER EATING THAI RED CURRY WITH CHICKEN
Service was significantly below average as well. Our waitress barely spoke English and had difficulties communicating with my party and I. 45 minutes before closing, we were rushed to make last minute decisions on what else we wanted to have, as our waitress yelled at us that it was the last call for orders, without any notice prior. Two minutes later, our iPad was taken away from us. I should mention that there were a couple of dishes which we asked for and had never arrived. We were told they were still being prepared…. Despite the Costco sample-sized dishes coming out quickly (orders did not come out in order), THIS EXPERIENCE WAS NOT WORTH IT AND I WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE
Upon paying, our waitress was staring down on us in anticipation for a greater tip. She repeated herself twice asking us, students: “Where is the service tip? I do not see that you have added it”. A tip is never mandatory unless the service is exceptionally great. There was about an extra $5 on the bill, yet she demanded us to pay more. We felt GUILT TRIPPED with her saying “It is okay. It is okay. You do not need to”. Once she was handed another $5, she said “Thank you, sweetie” with a fake smile and her attitude...
