Great atmosphere that can be sensed the moment you walk into the restaurant. I like the vibe and the staff are very friendly & welcoming. Food tasted good but was not served hot hot. Food tasted good but I didn't like how oily it was. The highlight for me was the lentil soup which was absolutely delicious and portion served was great. I didn't like the shako mako soup, as the texture looked a bit like oatmeal. Taste wise, I like the mix of mushroom and chicken, but didn't think the spice/flavour was completely there. For the main, we got the quzi, which had lamb that literally fell off the bone. That was great, minus the oil and the Stew that came with it was also good (you have a choice of bean or eggplant, we chose eggplant), but I think the dish lacked a little more of spices to add more taste to it. Overall it was an OK experience, I'd say 3.5/5 but I'd definitely come back for the lentil soup. Kibbeh was also OK but would prefer if it is served with a side of sauce or something so that it is not eaten plain.

We decided to try Shako Mako over Sumaq today as we wanted to try a different Iraqi spot. Cons: *Raw chicken* - we ordered a second skewer of shish tawouk which upon cutting through, was raw. We informed the server who immediately took the plate to the back kitchen. To my disappointment, he brought back the same peices of chicken which had been placed back on the grill to be cooked fully. Raw chicken must be discarded if it is not fully cooked - it cannot be served again as it poses a health hazard. The correct thing would be to cook a new skewer of chicken. Upon paying our bill, I did reiterate this to the server who has hopefully relayed this to management. Some people give constructive feedback, while others will give a mouthful so here's hoping this place will take the feedback seriously to avoid an upset patron. - given 3 stars for this. Pros: - Food came to our table within 15 mins (we were the only patrons there) - Fresh, flavourful food (mixed grill, dolma, beef sandwich, cheese manaeesh, hummus)

This place has it all - warm and attentive service, delicious food, and hefty portions! "Shako Mako" means "What's Up" in Iraqi. The restaurant is owned by a lovely family who I think all take part in the restaurant's operations. I came with a party of 4 on a heavy snow day and was amazed that the restaurant was nearly full. We were promptly seated and offered menus and water. We ordered a selection of favourites: fattoush (which came in a cool pita bowl), mixed appetizer plate (the m'tabbal is to die for), dolma, beef manakish, falafel, and the family plate where we got to try a bit of every entree (highly recommend this). There was not a single bite I did not love! You can tell that the food is made with love, from scratch. As 4 people, we clearly could not finish it all. We took it all home as leftovers and had a wonderful lunch the next day. Surprisingly, the food held up well after a night in the fridge! Highly recommend Shako Mako for your next Middle Eastern Cuisine adventure!

Shako Mako is a delightful and delicious experience from start to finish!

We visited Shako Mako on a quiet (and very snowy!) winter evening, and we came hungry and ready to eat after escaping the snow and cold. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly, and my eyes were probably bigger than my stomach on this evening, since I wanted to order half the menu for our party of four, but we eventually narrowed it down to the Mixed Appetizer Plate, Fattoush Salad, Beef Manakish, Traditional Dolma Platter, Falafel Platter, and the Family Plate. Also ordered a Lemon Mint Juice at the recommendation of staff. (Great recommendation, btw!)

Wow, is all I need to say. The food and drink came quickly and we scrambled to find room for all of the plates that were showing up out of the kitchen; very large plates filled to the edges with delicious looking food.

Digging in, I was impressed at how well cooked and seasoned all of the dishes were. I almost stole the entire M'Tabbal (part of the Mixed Appetizer Plate!) for myself, I think I ate extra portions of the Kabab Tawa without asking, and I found myself wanting to keep eating even though my stomach had raised the white flag.

That Family Plate was also far larger than we had expected, and so we had plenty to take home.

Overall, one of my favourite meals that I've had in recent memory, and I'm already itching to go back. Thank you so...

Outstanding Dining Experience at Shako Mako Restaurant Thank you dimaaa so muchiiii❤️❤️ I recently dined at Shako Mako Restaurant and was thoroughly impressed with both the customer service and the food.

From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and a welcoming atmosphere. The staff were attentive and genuinely friendly, making sure that every aspect of our dining experience was enjoyable. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and provided excellent recommendations, catering to our preferences with ease.

The food at Shako Mako was nothing short of exceptional. Each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with authentic flavors. The kebabs were perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy, while the hummus was creamy and rich, just as it should be. The fresh, warm pita bread was a delightful accompaniment, and the baklava for dessert was a sweet, flaky masterpiece.

What stood out the most was the attention to detail and the care taken to ensure that every customer felt valued. The manager even stopped by our table to check on our satisfaction, which added a personal touch to the experience.

Overall, Shako Mako Restaurant excels in both its culinary offerings and its customer service. It’s clear that they prioritize their guests' enjoyment and satisfaction. I highly recommend Shako Mako to anyone looking for an outstanding...

If something comes complimentary with food such as bread, etc, don't ask customers whether they want it. It should be automatically given to them. It makes you/restaurant look cheap when customers are already paying so much and you guys are trying to cut corners and save for your business. Seating was good, but no customer service. As a paying customer, not coming back. My food (meat skewer was undercooked). Having a lot of experience eating at such kind of similar restaurants, they may have just taken the same food from my table cooked it and returned with the same instead of making new ones. I even quickly went through reviews and someone had a similar situation and concern. So I am glad I did not even bother because regardless I still had an upset stomach. Don't mind but learn to appreciate paying customers and make them feel welcome. Food bloggers with forced positive reviews getting free food may not always return to your restaurant but a paying customer might. Anyways, I won't be returning with my group of people I came with but wishing you...
