Edit/ update:

I visited the following day and voiced my concerns with the manager who was a breath of fresh air. She was wonderful to talk to and I truly appreciate her understanding and how she took the time to listen instead of brushing me off. This place used to be my favorite but it was going downhill for a while now and iI was finished and given up on alforat HOWEVER... after speaking with her, I'm definitely more hopeful for this place. It looks like she's got some changes she's working on and it will become better.

I'm glad they finally hired someone to deal with the issues they've been overlooking for so long. Highly recommend the food. There are so many great items. Im glad to see some well needed changes!

they definitely need to either get a large location or buy the place next door and expand for more seating. I've been visiting since this place opened it barely had customers. However in the past few years, due to people coming, they have given up on standards in terms of service and food.

Ordering on Uber eats is the worst if it comes from here! They never send the full order; such as the alforat bbq mix plus; they send 1 bread instead of 3, and the 1 they send is clearly old, crusted and dry bread. They also don't send the hummus Or garlic sauce, which was supposed to be part of the meal (and garlic sauce can't be ordered separately...weird) Also the lamb shawarma meat is dry and mealy. Absolutely inedible.

And the make their own decisions such as in the 'build your own wrap'... even if you say no pickles, they will add it. Ubereats customers get whatever they can't sell In person, apparently. Since we aren't there in person to call them out on it. And when I called to speak to them about this issue (again)...they have not recourse..just...'oh well' attitude...so disrespectful and disappointing.

The Staff lies about wait times for seating and food, even if placed HOURS in advance

This place has become a complete disappointment. Even if the food is SOMETIMES good...it doesn't make up for the terrible service in general, and lack of customer service when THEY mess up and can't...

Food is average if you want there in weekdays, don’t go in weekend you will get oily rice and raw meat. Because they’ve to serve plenty of people. We also trap in fake reviews. There is tip for enyone always check low rating that’s the only honest opinion exist. As a Asian person I don’t like complain and low rating. But this time I’m giving low rating because of the hygiene issues. All female server has a long fake nails touching food and dipping in lentil soup it’s disgusting. While waiting outside 2 hours when it’s come over turn. He came and ask ahead of us how many he said 6 then asked us we said 7 then he asked third person she said 4 the the next she said 2 he said come in both, we both got surprised what this happened. Then next time she came and she asked again ahead of person how many he said 6 then we said 7 then third she said 5 she said come in we surprised again but this time we asked what’s going on we came first first come first serve this is the rule you can’t pick and choose. Then she explain you guys are 7 once we got a table of 7 we will accommodate. Then we said it’s not fair you took almost 3 families ahead of us. She said I don’t have 7 chair table available if you guys want sit in separate table I’ll arrange. We said yes please then got after 5 minutes 2 separate table. This time ahead of guy finally he speak to he said I came before then. She asked us we said yes he was ahead of us this time his family also came out from car and stand with him we offered him he said it’s ok what a great person. I’m pretty sure his wife must take his class once reach home why you can’t speak you too much shy. Poor management also server ladies if you have long hair and cute nail find something else job. I’ll visit again if I see long hair in my food or you cut Kebob with nail. You will not...

I placed an order for pick up on 21JUN around 1 AM. Probably one of the worst experiences just trying to place an order. The lady working during this time just does not have the communication to be working at the front desk.

First she asks me if she can put me on hold. Then she forgets I’m on hold, and after 16 minutes of being on hold, I hang up and call again and she starts taking my order as if nothing had happened.

I just wanted 3 Beef and Lamb Shawarmas. For some reason she kept saying I want Samoon? Then finally I tell her no, Lamb shawarma with Sai bread please.

At the front desk when I got there, there’s just one like up. There’s over 10 people in line trying to figure out what they want. Why isn’t there a separate line for folks who’ve already placed their order and just need to pick up the food? They tell me Dine in is closed, but some families are able to force themselves into the restaurant? Makes no sense.

Anyways, the reason I am even writing this review: I finally get home and open my bag and there’s 3 shawarmas with just Beef and Lamb. Nothing else inside. No sauces, no veggies, just meat and bread. I asked for 3 Beef and Lamb Shawarmas, not bread and meat.

Anyways, horrible experience ordering from this place. Front desk lady taking orders doesn’t understand English and puts wrong orders. No consistency in their own rules. Telling the nice customers who are polite the restaurant is closed for dine in, but the rude customers are just able to force themselves in. Wrong order. Spent close to $50 to receive 3 wraps with just meat inside and nothing else.

It’s a shame because in 2023 I used to come here a lot. Just hard to come here when I have to spend almost 20 minutes getting a headache talking to the front desk person who just does not listen and keeps talking...

As a food critic, the restaurant is simply well designed. However most people just pay for what’s asked, the food to value ratio is of a fine dining restaurant when it’s run like a diner. The ac was like walking into a fridge, all the food was cold. It was as strong as standing infront of a blower. Bread and napkins flying off the table. The Iraqi kebabs are the only thing that I liked after my 280$ bill for two. They were again very cheaply spread out, I had to order 12-13 for feel whole. The hummus to go was a scam, I’ll post a picture and weighted only 230 grams with the container for 10$, lots of fake reviews also don’t help on the page. Owner needs to take note of the price, and I think someone in family is at the counter doing a terrible job of understanding the role. What do you want? When it came time to pay since we waited 40 min for the bill. It might be a standout ridgeway plaza, but many more in Scarborough where same quality and better service is offered. Many tables besides us kept on complaining about portions and food quality. The bread was chewy, soup was also cold like everything that was given. Free doesn’t mean serve dog food. I think they cannot manage crowds. Have way too many employees and everyone kept engaging with each other. The young boys were apologetic when approached and it had already been closing time before they could make it right. No bottles of sauces on table this time. Paid for tea but never got it. Lots of issues with the whole restaurants tables. Since the on duty supervisor was the rudest to everyone, didn’t even bother speaking to her

My friends and I (five in all) dropped by for dinner, enamoured by the menu and the crowd—seems quite obvious that Alforat Iraqi Street Food is popular in this plaza. Vegan/vegetarian options are limited (which is ok—middle eastern cuisine is a meat eater’s paradise), but we were left disappointed by the quality and service. The restaurant comes across fully staffed but we had to wait an eternity for someone to take our order. We didn’t really mind the delays when it came to preparation and finally receiving our orders, but it was quite the task to catch a member of staff’s attention when we wanted something. Also, it may help to know only bottled water is available. Even more frustrating was the quality of the food. The mshakal samoon wasn’t something to rave about. The lamb a friend had ordered was so dry, hard and rubbery that one just couldn’t cut through it. The taste left a lot to be desired as well. It was embarrassing to see the manager (I believe the lady who later came over was the manager, if not a supervisor) try and cut it and say, protest rather, that it was “okay” (or something to that effect) when it clearly wasn’t. The complimentary tandoor bread (resembles naan), lentil soup and garlic paste—everyone dining in is served these items—were quite good. As was the chicken tikka another friend had ordered. There were more delays as we waited for our bills at the end and that pretty much summed up the evening.
