Great food, but disappointing environment ⭐️⭐️ I always look forward to the tenderloin plate here — it’s excellent. But on my last visit (before the new plaza restrictions), I had a very unpleasant experience with the surroundings. While entering, a stroller blocked the doorway, and when I asked to get by, the parent acted like it was no issue. Inside, as I tried to order, a young child repeatedly slapped me on my behind. The mother sitting across the room watching, doing nothing to stop him or tell her son to stay at her table. Instead, he roamed around, interrupting other customers who were simply trying to enjoy a quiet meal. It was left to the cashier to step in and ask him to stop. I was also surprised to see the owner allow a family of six to bring in an outside pizza and eat it at one of his tables, simply because the father bought one shawarma for himself. That burden shouldn’t fall on the owner — the father should have shown respect to the business in the first place. I sympathize with businesses facing these new plaza rules, but in my view, I understand that it’s not about gatherings — it’s about manners, respect, and consideration for others. I hope the loss of large gathering privileges is only temporary and serves as an opportunity to raise awareness, so all customers can enjoy the great food in a more respectful environment.
Update:
The tenderloin beef itself is excellent and truly deserves high stars. But reviews are based on the full experience: food, service, and atmosphere. I’m not looking for a refund — just sharing my honest feedback. On my visit, the environment was not well managed. I had to sit at a dirty table and wait for it to be cleaned. On busy, high-traffic days, the door really needs to be managed — watching how many people are entering, ensuring tables are ready, and keeping the space under control. I was also surprised to see a family allowed to bring in outside pizza and eat at the tables, simply because one shawarma was purchased. In most establishments — ie., during school lunches or busy nights — there are clear rules that no outside food is allowed. Respecting those rules protects the business, creates fairness, and ensures seating is available for those who came for YOUR food. Rules for customers and oversight help create that environment — and it’s a team effort. Great restaurants balance excellent food with attentive service, clear rules, and customer respect. My evaluation is not only on food but also service and atmosphere. For now, I’ve lowered my rating, but I hope these issues improve — because your tenderloin truly is worth...

Googling Top-Rated Shawarma landed me at “Shawarma Avenue”, for my first visit.
The owner was on hand to greet patrons warmly. Two huge spits of meet were roasting on the fire. The wall of the restaurant was absolutely magical as it changed colours, cycling between warm to cool tones. Wish I had brought my camera into the restaurant! Next time!
The chicken shawarma was exceptional! The length of it rivaled any sun. I don’t think anyone could find juicier pieces of chicken in their wrap. Nice light smoky flavour. Just the right ratio of meet to pickles, onion and tomato (all freshly sliced and full of crunch). The wrap itself is thin enough to not overwhelm the shawarma with a lot of bread. When grilled on the flat-top, the pita took on a bit of a crisp itself. Nice! Terrific garlic sauce, not too toum-like, but pronounced enough to let you know there was real garlic used. Had the opportunity to taste the lentil soup - hearty goodness and perfectly spiced! Can’t imagine getting a shawarma without a cup of lentil soup, now …. It was that good! Didn’t get the little tray of baklava and other sweets … Next time, when we come in a group.
All very reasonably priced for top quality ingredients!
Facilities including washrooms exceptionally clean and well kept.
Highly recommend Shawarma Avenue!
It’s our new go-to...
Read moreI recently decided to try this shawarma place for the first time as our favorite spot, El Prince Shawarma And Bakery, was closed for renovations. I ordered the Family Chicken Platter (4 wraps) to go, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory.
From the moment I walked in, the staff was not welcoming or courteous. The young chefs behind the counter were frowning, and it wasn't due to the heat. This lack of friendliness set a negative tone for our visit.
When I got home and tried the food with my family, we were extremely disappointed. The chicken was bland and mixed with skin and fat, which was very unappetizing. Worse, some bites had a crunching texture that seemed like dirt or soil – completely unacceptable and concerning for food safety.
The side portions were small, and the pickles were mediocre at best. The garlic sauce was also lacking in flavor. To top it off, they didn't include any chicken shawarma on the fries, a small but notable omission compared to other places we've been to.
This was our first and LAST visit to this shawarma place. We're eagerly waiting for El Prince Shawarma And Bakery to reopen, as they offer a similar platter with 5 wraps instead of 4, plus a FREE 2-liter soda of your choice for the same price. Their quality and generosity are unmatched, and I highly recommend trying them instead. You’ll definitely see...
