I recently embarked on a culinary adventure at this restaurant, and let me tell you, it was a taco-tastic rollercoaster ride! I boldly ordered 3 tacos - 2 lamb and 1 beef. The lamb tacos? They were so mind-blowingly good that I suspect they've unearthed a flavor goldmine within those delectable creations. The beef, while living in the lamb's taco shadow, still outperforms most of the tacos I've encountered in my lifetime.
But hold on to your sombreros, because this place doesn't just stop at tacos. They graciously bestow upon you an array of salsas and lime that will make your taste buds do the cha-cha. And then, out of nowhere, they drop this golden broth on you that's like the elixir of the taco gods – I'm pretty sure they have a mini-fountain of youth in the kitchen somewhere, perhaps with a secret cameo from Jesus himself, turning water into this golden broth.
Now, let's not forget the mango jarito soda – the perfect palate cleanser, or as I like to call it, a taco-loving taste bud symphony conductor.
But here's the pièce de résistance: the free churros! We showed up just 30 minutes before closing, and the owner must've seen the hunger in our eyes because she served up churros that were crispy and fluffy, as if they were fresh from a churro cloud. To top it off, she presented us with dulce de leche dipping sauce that was so heavenly, it could probably convince angels to skip dessert.
During this culinary circus, the owner and I had a delightful conversation. By the time I'd paid my dues and left a tip generous enough to sponsor a churro circus, she insisted on giving us the remainder of her churro stash. I mean, who wouldn't want to befriend someone who's this churro-mazingly generous?
In a nutshell, dining at this restaurant isn't just a meal; it's a taco-infused adventure sprinkled with humor, warmth, and moments of pure...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Mt. Sinai while on a business trip on 8/30/24. It’s a charming little restaurant tucked away on the side of the plaza that specializes in authentic halal Mexican food. Although the space is small and can get quite crowded—featuring just a couple of four-person tables and a few bar stools—it was well worth the visit for the delicious food and attentive service.
During my solo dining experience, I decided to sample a few menu highlights. I ordered the Lamb Birria, Beef Birria, and Alambre tacos, all cooked to order and bursting with flavor. The Lamb Birria was especially tender and my favorite, though I did find all three tacos a bit oily—perhaps from the cooking process. Regardless, the taste was delightful, and I savored every bite. I also opted for a side of nachos, which were equally delicious, but I couldn’t finish everything on my own.
While there were many tempting options on the menu, I chose to keep it simple. The sauces—regular, hot, and extra-hot—were excellent and truly brought out the authentic Mexican flavors. I made sure to save room for dessert and treated myself to a churro, which was a sweet way to end the meal.
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, taking the time to explain the dishes and ensure I had a pleasant experience. I appreciated the small touches, like having cutlery readily available at each table, making the dining experience even more comfortable.
Although I found the price point a bit on the higher side—around $24.86 for three tacos that didn’t quite fill me up—the quality of the food and the overall experience made it worthwhile. Mt. Sinai is a delightful spot that combines authentic flavors with excellent service, and I would highly recommend checking it out if you’re in the area. I look forward to returning and trying more of their...
