Just went for breakfast with my husband. It was busy being a Saturday. We paid in advance but they didn't tell us it would be a 30 minute wait! We ordered the Colorado meat lovers omlette which was okay but came without any toast or jam. We had to ask for it but it never arrived. I ordered the simple breakfast with fruit which was just so so. The coffee came with no sugar or cream and again we had to ask. We've been here before and enjoyed it but service has declined because there are very young girls who look underage too inexperienced and poorly trained. I mentioned our dissatisfaction to the owner when we were leaving and she apologized and blamed it on the poor girls instead of taking responsibility! She promised to buy us a free breakfast the next time we come but I know we will never go back! We will stick to our favorite Bobby's Hideaway next time!
PS: Readers, please note, the apology was never offered spontaneously. The first time I mentioned the lack of toast to eat with the omelette to the waitress, she told us she would tell the kitchen. The second time when I asked her where it was she said it was "being made." The toast never arrived and neither did the owner come to apologize. I personally went up to the kitchen while leaving, and spoke to the owner and mentioned my grievance. Only then did the owner offer to make it up to us. And I never bashed your restaurant or called your servers cheap or poorly paid, just inexperienced and poorly trained. Please do not put words into my mouth and don't mention politics. Poor service is poor service. Please take responsibility for it instead of making excuses. I am never rude or unreasonable as you can tell from my social media. Accountability and integrity is of the highest value. It's a recession and folks are coming to eat out in spite of the economy. The least we can expect is good service. I wish you a happy 2023 as well, and all the very best to you and...
Read moreThe service is great and very friendly, but the food is very basic and overpriced. Not sure what all the amazing reviews are for, it is homey and has a great diner feel but none of the food I tried is homemade or very tasty. This is my third time here because I wanted to give it an honest go for more than just breakfast, but it's really not worth a return visit for me anyways.
Edit, just received a reply from the owner wondering why I've made false statements in my review.
Although I haven't tried all the menu items (specifically the only homemade item he mentioned being the soups) I'm simply giving an honest review of the three seperate occasions I've visited within the past 2 weeks--no need to get defensive or bring your family into it.
Here's a better breakdown.
First visit- service was really friendly and welcoming--great! I had the 3 eggs with bacon special. The portion size for the meal was smaller than any breakfast spot I've been to recently and roughly 4 dollars more expensive. (15 with 15% gratuity.) Food was good, but not good enough to justify the price.
Second visit, service is still excellent and friendly. I had the "homemade" burger and fries. The burger is 100% frozen store-bought which tatsed exactly like a pc burger from Fortinos. Fries were generic (still tasty) and not homemade. Again, portion size was on the smaller side for the price.
Third visit, service is still great and friendly. I had the chicken souvlaki. Chicken was cooked well but did not have the texture or taste of fresh not frozen chicken. The potatoes and salad were great. Again, portion size was small for the price.
I'm sorry the owner felt personally attacked by my review, I'm just being honest. There was no mention of the integrity of the staff or family at all in my review, not sure why he felt the need to take it there.
Like all places, check it out for...
Read moreMy family and I ( 11 in total with 6 adults and five children) went to Skyway Jack's for breakfast for Mother's Day. We had called a few days prior to ask about seating and was told that we should call thirty minutes before coming so they can arrange.
We arrived at 10:30 and were seated within 10 minutes. Our tables were across from each other so we were still fairly close.
We put in our order and was advised that potatoes would be brought out for the kids. We received the potatoes around 5 minutes later.
At this point, 30 minutes have passed and still no food. We had to ask for coffee since it wasn't brought out. Other guests were coming in and getting served their food so we asked what happened with our food.
We were told it will be out in 5-10 minutes. Another 30 minutes pass by and still no food. At this point we realised our food order was not passed to the kitchen. The kids were getting anxious and impatient as they were waiting.
Almost an hour later and our food was brought out. We were not happy to be eating an hour later from when we arrived and seeing other guests being served arriving after us. The food was great but service lacked all around.
Here's what could be done next time:
Instead of offering take out service on such a busy holiday, cater to your dine in customers. There were so many take out orders it had created a backlog to the customers who were in the restaurant. The line up for take out was long as well and impacted the time for food to be brought out.
Have more staff on standby. It was busy no doubt and having to ask for coffee is not a great start. By having additional staff, you're ensuring that you are covering all bases.
Supporting small businesses in a time like this helps them but when they lack in service because their priorities are about taking orders via phone and not focusing on the customers in house, it leaves a...
