For my experience in 2021-2022, I can confidently label this place as the best AYCE Sushi place in GTA if not Canada. And I ate most ayce sushi restaurants in ON and QC.
This place wins in all the small details that matter. It becomes even more obvious when compared to nearby competitors like K&Be, Heart Sushi, 168, Spoon&Fork and August 8.
Wind's sushi 🍣 can pass for high quality a la carte. Look at the Torched Sushi picture, the fish is 3x thicker than most places named above. The places above, especially K&b and heart sushi, would have a much larger rice to fish ratio. They would send their more expensive plates (i.e. sashimi and raw sushis) last and much later after we get stuffed by the cheap stuff. Wind would have their premium plates out very early if not first. The whole food experience is much more enjoyable at Wind. Timely manner, and not cheaping out on quality and increasing rice ratio. The meat is much juicier and tastier as well.
It is also one of the few places that offer ayce Eel sashimi. All sashimi pieces are thick. Brazilian Grill active throughout the night with amazing tender meat/shrimps and pineapples; it's a bonus if you care about Brazilian Grill which is often more expensive than ayce sushi.
Service is great and fast. Also one of the few places where you can input your own ice cream choices as supposed to having to verbally tell a server, it's a bit of a time saver overall. I tried their cheesecake first time today, to my surprise, it's the authentic thick NY cheesecake with a nice biscuit base, which again would pass for a quality a la carte plate.
The interior and cleaningness are overall above average, targeting the higher end side. Staff still wearing masks as of today.
I have absolutely no ties with this restaurant, just honest truth.
The bad: I notice the menu has shrunk a bit, mostly gut feelings, but the core items are all present. Their lunch is extremely limited. If you're serious with food, you'd request for dinner menu even during lunch time. Dinners and weekends are normally full, you need to book ahead. They semi-use robots, could be an eyesore to certain mindsets. pricier than average, but the extra few dollars...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Wind Japanese and Thai restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday, and it was an experience worth sharing. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the elegant ambiance and the warm, welcoming staff.
The menu offers a delightful fusion of Japanese and Thai cuisine, providing a wide variety of options for every palate. We started with the miso soup and vegetable spring rolls, both of which were fresh and flavorful. The presentation was meticulous, setting the stage for the rest of the meal.
For the main course, we opted for the Pad Thai and a sushi platter. The Pad Thai was perfectly balanced with a harmonious blend of sweet, sour, and savory notes. The noodles were cooked to perfection, and the vegetables were crisp and fresh. The sushi platter was a visual and culinary delight, with each piece showcasing the chef's skill and attention to detail.
One of the unique features of Wind Japanese and Thai is their use of robots to deliver food to the tables. The service was exceptional, with the robots efficiently and smoothly bringing our dishes, adding a fun and futuristic element to the dining experience.
As a special surprise for my wife's birthday, the restaurant brought out a complimentary tiramisu with a candle. A robot delivered it to our table while singing "Happy Birthday," which made the celebration even more memorable and delightful.
The ambiance of the restaurant is serene and sophisticated, making it a great spot for both casual meals and special occasions. The decor combines modern elements with traditional touches, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
Overall, my experience at Wind Japanese and Thai restaurant was outstanding. The combination of excellent food, top-notch service, and a beautiful setting makes it a must-visit for anyone who appreciates quality Asian cuisine. I highly recommend...
Read moreTo be fair in this review, I've visited this restaurant during the thick of covid when I was craving Pad Thai and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Also during covid while a friend was in town I ordered sushi 🍣 and she loved it.
My MIL was in the mood for sushi 🍣 and I suggested WIND as I've never experienced the dine in experience.
The hostess at the front was very friendly and gave us all the information on how things worked. We asked about pricing between à la carte and all you can eat. The cost worked out to $30+ per person for all you can eat. And she recommended this option for us as we would be able to try more variety food wise.
The ambiance in the restaurant is lovely. Very low key, but comfortable. It's the kind of atmosphere that is welcoming whether you're celebrating 🍾 a special occasion or just dropping in on a whim for a meal. Dressed up or down, the atmosphere suits the occasion.
The server was friendly and explained how to order our food using the iPad.
Your table is given a number and colour that coordinates with this awesome little robot 🤖 that delivers your meal.
After you enter your choices, the robot comes to your table and your number is displayed on top. Because it is serving multiple tables, the section with your food will blink accordingly until you have removed all your dishes. The robot then moves on to serve another table in the same manner.
The food was delicious 😋 and at first you will think 🤔 the portions are so small but honestly, after ordering a few dishes you will be full.
The dessert selection was limited to a few flavours of ice cream (strawberry/mango/green tea/vanilla/coconut). Honestly, after a filling meal, a light dessert is all you need and this hits the spot.
I will absolutely be back in the future for another meal and would definitely...
