I was there last weekend, Saturday night with friends. Everyone was dancing while I had stepped out for a quick smoke. The guy at the door locked it right away, seeing I was standing right next to him the whole night. When knocked to come in, he refused to let me in after I reapetedly explained & requested to get to my friends. There was another 30/35 minutes to go before the music would stop. Then everyone would wrap up & start coming out. I asked the guy, " do you want me to just stand here for next 40 mins waiting for my friends to come out? One of them I traveled with had my purse. I can't just leave. But he kept saying; "o I can't help you". None can come in anymore. It doesn't matter that you were already here.
Then I stood there for good 20 mins. Meanwhile people leaving the bar, few came out for smoke & went back in. Apparently, he had to clear his tab. So after a while.. when the music stopped.... people started leaving, I tried to get in. Now he got physical and started pushing me out being extremely rude. As if I was some drunk person trying to cause trouble. Meanwhile, couple of my friends came to the door asking him to let me in.. but he wouldn't have it . At one point I had to tell him to take his hands off me. He was blocking me & pushing me with his whole body towards the door. I'm 4'11. This guy was few inches over 6 feet. Big guy. He kept saying, he is doing his job.
This will stay in my memory for a long time. And I'll think twice before I go back...
Read moreThe food is really good but the service is really rushed. We got there around 830 or so and only ended up having 1 tapa each and one drink. The waitress was friendly but she was all over the place...as if she was trying to service all of the tables and make her tips (she wasn't the only waitress.) When we were leaving there was no actual customer service to say "thanks for coming - have a great night" there was none of that.
Idk - i expect to have a good experience not just eat good food. BUT the food did make up for the experience a bit. We split the wild mushrooms (shitake, oyster and portobello) with blue cheese on a thin (focaccia?) And also had the Prawns - which are not spicy but very flavorful.
We both had an alcoholic beverage: i ordered the scorpion and i forgot what my friend ordered (something with "ball" in title and he liked it - yes that's a terrible description! Sorry) the scorpion had rum in it and is a bit more sour than sweet - it was really good! BUT our drinks came in beer glasses? I found that a bit strange....
I would consider coming back - especially if you feel a bit hungry but can't eat a full meal. For those whom don't know what tapa's are - it's basically appetizer...
Read moreVery nice ambience - good decor, good music at the right volume. It isn't a big place so has a very cozy vibe but it definitely looks like it would be a lively bar on busier weekends.
We went on a Saturday sandwiched between Easter days so there weren't a lot of other people - probably about a third full during our visit.
One weird thing - the ceiling in the middle of the room is a recessed dome. I found it was reflecting the voices of another table on the other side of the room so I could hear them clearly as if they were standing right over my head.
Service was wonderful, friendly, and prompt as well. Overall food was good - very hearty and comfy. Some hits and some misses.
Patatas Bravas: Excellent with lots of seasoning and flavour. Could use a little less Bravas sauce. Definitely get this.
Grilled Calamari: Can be skipped. Rubbery and not a not of flavour.
Fig & Brie flatbread: Delicious. Inhaled this dish. Everything was good about this.
Blackened Ahi Tuna: It was alright. Can't pinpoint what was missing. Maybe needed a bit more of a spicy kick.
Cameron Al Ajillo: Delicious. Came with amazing wood-fired bread that really elevated it.
Enjoyed our visit here and would...
