This is in a nice spot by the lake for breakfast, brunch or lunch but it’s a hit or miss it seems with its service and food.
This Sunset’s location is everything… otherwise it hasn’t been worth it to come back. Though the food today was great, in the past it’s lacked. Maybe they hired a new cook as if haven’t been there in a while. What I can confirm is the quality and quantity of food hasn’t been consistent in the span of five years I’ve been eating here or consistent with the brand’s standards you find elsewhere. The staff are also lack lustre… they’re not friendly at all. They do their job but the bare minimum in regards to customer service. Today drive me over the edge and that’s why I’m finally reviewing this place. It was horrible and we probably won’t be back. It’s simply not worth it at this point.
Today our party arrived at 8:30am. They clearly weren’t anticipating on it being busy as there was one person in the kitchen and one serving… but then again it’s a breakfast restaurant. How can you not anticipate on some sort of traffic. Really, they were lacking staff even if it would’ve been slower.
Anyway, it was pretty full when we arrived and people coming steady. Long story short- we spent hours there this morning. It took a little over a half hour to have our order taken.
Things happen, but the server could’ve let us know when we came in. Unprofessional and inconsiderate of our time but consistent with past customer service. Had we known the situation we would’ve gone elsewhere as we were entertaining guests and didn’t want to waste our whole morning there. The server was also not friendly and ignoring us when we tried to get her call her as she walked by to ask her what was going on. Our fault for staying but it was a waste of time, waste of money and a horrible experience for both us and our out of town guests.
Basically it’s location, location, location. I recommend going elsewhere around there or even grab breakfast at another Sunset just three minutes (driving) east of there and then grab a coffee at the Starbucks across the street if you want to enjoy...
Read moreI have been going to Sunset Grill at the Lakeshore location for many years, however, this past Sunday was the last and final time. The food was alright and the service was decent, mind you it was pretty busy at the time. Food came within a decent amount of time. During my stay, my friend asked for some maple syrup, when the waitress asked if we wanted "REAL" maple syrup, we said yes confused thinking we didnt want fake maple syrup and she walked away and got it for us. when we got the bill there was a 2.99 charge for the maple syrup. now i work in the resaurant business and whenever people ask me for anything that has a charge i will tell them that there is a charge. in this situation, our waitress NEVER told us. so we complained to the owner. she seemed very uninterested and told us that she will not get this money back and that we "should've" known that there was a charge and just being very very rude to us. and i mean i work in the industry and there is NO WAY that you speak to your guest in such a manor. she said it was our fault and we shouldve known that there is a cost for real maple syrup and that she cannot question the guest or tell the guest what real maple syrup is because everyone should know what it is. I will never go back there after how THE OWNER has treated me, and i really...
Read moreFirst, let me say I am a devoted fan of Sunset Grill, been to at least 7 different locations, from this one in Port Credit to Whitby to Oakville to Erin Mills. The caliber of breakfast is usually stellar, hence the repeated visits. This location, however, is consistently sub par, to the point it would be recommended to find the nearest alternate location and make the journey there instead. The one thing about breakfasts like the ones Sunset Grill offers is it has to be as good or better than you can make at home, with a quality of ingredients that should be, again, as good or preferably better. The last three times we've been to this location (didn't say I'm smart), the home fries were almost white with rawness, the eggs weren't cooked and the tomato slices may as well been carved from wood. I understand the need to get food out as quickly as possible but at least cook the home fries - a signature dish in some places - properly, do eggs properly and ask whoever's buying your produce to choose tomatoes that have a chance of ripening within the month of purchase. So, reco? Go to...
