The Keg Steakhouse + Bar - Mississauga Northwest — Restaurant in Mississauga

Had a very bad experience last night at this keg

We had a reservation for 6:30 called to say we would be 5 mins late

Arrived at 6:36 to only be told by the front host that I had to wait outside of the front door because my table wasn’t ready . Also not sure what it was but he was emitting some extreme attitude . I thought it was quite rude because at this point it was extremely windy and cold Outside .

We waited for another Ten mins OUTSIDE while it was quite chilly . Finally I was a bit irritated so my bf and I came inside and asked if it was ok we waited inside as it was cold . The HOST at the front was giving us quite some attitude from the get go and was not having it when I asked to stand inside - I had a reservation so I’m not sure why we even were waiting till 6:50 and in the cold on top of that . Another staff behind the bar realized that I was quite upset and he responded on behalf of the host when we asked nicely If we could stand inside . The host was ready to say no again . On top of all this . When the other staff said yes - the host added “ we’ll don’t block the doorway “ - super super rude As if he was doing us a favour when - we HAD A reservation.

We were finally seated Our waitress was a bit of a saving grace - she was extremely kind and gentle and very very sweet

However the steaks were not seasoned at all . The carrots were undercooked and the mash potatoes had NO flavour . My boyfriends peppercorn was not the same either . We order the same meal every time- from the keg - however - this time is was horrible . It took quite some time for the food to come We were seated at 6:50 and even tho we ordered one appetizer - our steaks came at 7:50 .

When asked how the streaks were I said they were “ Ok” our waitress asked many times if she could do something abojt it but we didn’t want to cause any further delays as we waited an hour to receive our food . Let the record show that we did not receive any compensation nor did we ask for it

I’m not sure what was going on that night The steak tasted like something I made at home. Very plain and homemade Had no flavour no juice EXTREMELY dry The fries mmy boyfriend ordered came so well done that as soon as u would bite into them them would snap in half . SNAP . Not normal . Fries have so crunch but not rocks . They didn’t even tasted overdone the were stale and old . Seemed like the reused it from a previous plate that didn’t make it out .

Overall the experience was horrible however our waitress was very kind - prob the reason why we didn’t want to complain about much .

We had not gone out for a date night in quite some time since the pandemic and my boyfriend loves the keg , has been craving it for months and finally made an effort to get out there last night .

I will not be going back -...

First time in over 25yrs of dining at different Keg restaurants that I'm giving an average/sub par endorsement (would have probably given 2.5 stars if I could).

The biggest thing we've always loved about The Keg was its second to none consistency that we've experienced throughout the years... Even at this specific location, we've had some of our best meals and service.

Unfortunately our recent experience had a lot of flaws that were noteworthy... a server that was clearly new to the role- didn't cover the specials and only asked AFTER we placed our orders if we had a chance to look over the specials, couldn't tell me what bottled beers they had or what was in a certain dish we inquired about, didn't check for refill or offer to replenish beverages, took at least 20mins to settle our bill after we put out credit card down, etc that were unfortunate training or readiness gaps the hovering staff that are checking tables and timing of service must have/should have noticed that it took close to 20mins to get our bread, and a few minutes later to get our app, but no apologies or corrective action taken my wife's and children's meals weren't that great... A bit overcooked and dried out, and not something that was noticed until after someone came to check on us, probably a bit too early as they had only taken their first bite or two of their meals

In full transparency, we did not share this with the staff during our evening, and I'm confident that if we did share this, they would have taken care of us. The first couple of "grievances"were kind of shrugged off by us since we don't usually have problems at Keg locations, but as things continued to happen our disappointment compounded until it was too late to meaningfully say anything. Also, we had our kids with us that were getting restless so at that point our priority was leaving (and perhaps added to our frustration that night!)

We are confident that this will be an isolated incident and we'll continue to go to The Keg, and likely this location again, and hope that our...

I wasn't going to leave a review as my experience was definitely not one to write home about. I am hoping that they will use this as a learning experience. I came to the Keg after my last experience wasn't the best to give them another try (At one time in our lives this was the place we would go to for date night with the hubby or any family celebrations). The night started off good. We were seated right away and our server was at our table within 2 min. I ordered an aperitif-Johnny walker gold. It was served to me in a dirty glass (during an pandemic where everything should be cleaned properly this made me a little bit nervous). Looked like celery salt stuck to the bottom of the glass. They replaced it. When our meal arrived my plate was burning hot to the touch. When I tried my food (no surprise) it was cold. A manager was walking by and heard me say that food was cold and offered to replace the bernese sauce and shrimp and scallops I agreed that would be best. When I cut into my steak I noticed that my med rare steak (no surprise) was med well. I wanted to eat my food during the same time as my companion so I started to eat my cold steak it was not enjoyable so after a couple bites I stopped eating it. At this point there is no use complaining as the meal, ambiance, and over all experience was ruined. I did not finish my steak or my shrimp and scallops. I was over all of it and at this point I just wanted to leave. I am very empathetic and was not rude at any point during this dining experience. However, I have told people about this, as when my friends are wanting to go out for dinner and birthdays they want to go to the Keg and I am extremely hesitant to go back. Please use this as a learning curve for staff. No one is perfect however things such as these...
