Café Cognito — Restaurant in Moncton

First time visiting. Not sure if they were short staffed, but there was only 1 woman working. The lady that had been waiting to order, when I arrived, left in a huff without ordering. I get the impression she had been waiting a while as the only worker was spending all her time making 2 paninis. Even after the woman left, I still had to wait another 5+ minutes for her to complete the paninis. She made no attempt to multi-task. Moving on, I ordered a mocha. I was extremely disappointed. Not only did it take a really long time for her to make, it was not done well at all and was warm at best. Barely any chocolate syrup made for an extremely flavourless mocha. The tiny bit of syrup that was used was stuck to the bottom of the cup. Even when I poured it into my own mug, to mix the syrup, it was still bland and tasted like watered down milk and coffee. Now my warm mocha went to room temperature (because I had to pour it and mix it). I won’t be returning. Back to Starbucks I guess 😢

I just finished my lunch and I was very happy! The Shrimp Wonton soup was delicious - there was a whole shrimp in each wonton which was great, I think this soup could have more spice but I understand it was made to appeal to all tastes - and I do think it would be a hit with any age range. I had the Apple, Brie and & Nut Panini - it was a very generous size, still warm when I got home and quite tasty. If they added some sort of sweet condiment to the panini it could be even better (like red pepper jelly or a chutney). Really great cafe with super friendly staff!

I have tried a variety of items on their menu and my favorites' so far are the cognito club and quesadillas. They are both reasonably priced and fulfilling. Their lemon iced tea and raspberry iced tea are also amazing for a hot day. Their coffee is also quite good and able to be customized into how you like it.

The real strong point of this cafe is its staff, who are always so welcoming, helpful and remember their customers! Absolutely recommend this place to anyone and it is the first place I bring any...
