Excellent in every way! My partner and I stayed here together, and it is the nicest place either of us has ever stayed (and we have traveled a lot). At the time of booking we had requested to be put in a room with a nice view, if it was available. The hotel almost immediately replied saying they would be happy to! We booked a King suite with a balcony, and they gave us a corner room so that we had twice the view of a regular room! |Every employee was beyond friendly and kind, and always made sure to ask if we were having a nice stay. The room was immaculate, cozy, and colourful. I noticed that the artworks on the walls on our floor are actually painted by an artist (I am Eelco) and not just mass-produced artworks. You can see the spray paint strokes! I found that so exciting because Canvas obviously values art/artists and doesn't cut corners in any aspect.|We tried out the rooftop restaurant (The Palette), Gahan House, and Bar 55. Every meal we had was incredible. We also looked around the Experience ANBL and the employees there went out of their way to help us and were very kind. |The only thing we had trouble with was hooking up my laptop to the TV in our room. It was a bit hard to find the HDMI port since the TV doesn't extend from the wall, and then there were no accessible nearby outlets to plug in my laptop so we had to stretch both the HDMI cable and charging cable to their maximum length to reach the nearest outlet. It wasn't that much trouble but maybe you could bring an extension cord if you are planning on watching something from your own device. (The TVs can access Disney+, Netflix, etc. but we don't have an account with any of those streaming services).|Overall, this was an amazing place to stay and we will absolutely be returning!...
Read moreGreat location! The rooms are super nice. And I got a balcony room which was lovely. However my room was right across from the elevator, which is super noisy when people are getting off the elevator on your floor. The amenities are pretty good too. The Experience liquor staff are wonderful. The Take 55 cafe I probably wouldn’t eat there ever again. They charged me $8 for an almost inedible sandwich. Gahan house is also good. Palette is ok. Overpriced. Why does the Canvas get a 1 on service? I was running late (my fault) I asked if I could have more time to clean up my room, and finish packing. The front desk agreed to give me 30 minutes. Amazing right? Well I got harassed by phone calls every 5 minutes to my room. So while I was trying to hurry and pack… I had to run to answer the phone, and remind them they gave me 30 minutes longer to get everything out of the room. When I go to give the keys back, the gal behind the desk (it’s a Friday at 12:30, long brown hair, blonde streaks) she’s not polite. I asked about the 100 deposit the hotel put on my card. And she’s like I don’t see it here. It’s not here. And I said well… the hotel charged me 100 and I have the evidence of it. Wasn’t bothered by it. Cool so I just won’t get my 100 back? She said well I don’t know what happened but it’s not here. So it’s probably been refunded. I’m aware it takes 2-5 days to get the hold back. But she didn’t even give me a number to call someone if it doesn’t come back?…. So that interaction basically makes me question if I’ll stay there again. I’m in Moncton 4x a year. And there are...
Read moreHappy overall but one huge problem. I'll start with the good:
Hotel was located right next to the downtown core. Restaurants, pubs, etc... about a block away. It even has it's own built in restaurant (Gahan) that had an excellent lunch selection. The creamsicle cocktail takes you back to dumping Tropicana in your Chapman's but better because it contains gin.
The hotel staff was friendly and look was chic and modern. You know, the usual boutique fare, aggressive art in the lobby, a mishmash of styles and textures, a rotary phone on your nightstand.
The bad: Noise. We were set up right next to the elevators and the door has a 2 inch gap at the bottom. It was a Saturday night so every drunk girl and every drunk boy coming back from Pump House or Old Triangle or where ever would unfold the meaning of life, at the top of their lungs 15 feet from where we were sleeping. The conversations were so clear we might as well have just shared a room with them. A little sound proofing on the door would have gone a long way. Also, the beds themselves weren't particularly comfortable but not particularly bad either. Woke up tired and groggy the next morning and as did the wait staff at Gahan where we went to breakfast. It's clear he was nursing a hangover. Happens to the best of us, no ill-will there.
Would I come back again. Probably... maybe... probably. But I'd get a room at the back corner or an under...
