Mary Brown's Chicken — Restaurant in Moncton

EDIT: Gave Mary Brown's another try. Tried the $40 Team Feast. Came with 10 pieces chicken can chose flavours from regular, Honey BBQ and spicy, taters or mashed potatoes, salad, gravy and 4 biscuits. This would be better deal if the added 2 me pieces of chicken and 4 pies. Also be nice to get half taters and half mashed potatoes with gravy. Meal with a try, but won't be getting again. On the pricey side.

I ordered the $19.96 special this past weekend and I realized that they gave me a small salad instead of a medium. I thought it seemed small when I got home, and was confirmed it was a small in the bottom of the container. The meal even as a special is a bit overpriced for what you get and they still rip you off by giving you a small salad instead of sized advertised. I'm knocking the start down one. The rest of my review below still holds.

Had Mary Brown's fried chicken for the first time. I agree with those who say it's better than KFC but I don't think that's saying much. The fried chicken is tasty, but I wish it was less greasy. I don't think they took enough care to drain the grease or whatever the problem is. The taters and macaroni salad were good as well as the Apple pie. It's a little over priced for what you get. It would be nice if they had spicy version of chicken as well. Popeye's tastes better and slightly better value. If you never had Mary Brown's before it's worth at least a try. Better than spending...

2020 is a strange year to be trying a restaurant out for the first time. But I have heard good things about Mary Brown's and had a hankering for some good quality fried chicken. I was feeling too lazy to make my own this time round, and can't stand KFC, so it was off to Mary's.

The restaurant was well set up for social distancing and all the staff were masked up. I ordered a 9 piece feast (Taters, Mac and Cheese, and a mix of regular recipe and spicy) I also ordered a Spicy Big Mary chicken sandwich.

Staff was good to deal with and they were very quick with my order.

Smelled great on the drive home. Demolished the Spicy Big Mary sandwich straight away. It was juicy and delicious with a good spice level.

9 Piece feast turned out to only be an 8 piece feast unfortunately. 4 regular and 4 spicy pieces. They were very good though. Juicy, with good batter and the spicy ones had good heat. Mac and Cheese was decent and the taters were very good.

Worth a try for sure. I'll go back next time I have a fried chicken itch. (But I might count my chicken pieces...

I'm finally making a comment. My lovely wife Pat and I have dined here a few times. Every single time it's been a pleasure. Prices are more than reasonable given the amount and quality of food served. Excellent service with staff that look out for their customer. Pat and I dined here on a Monday and they currently (as of Oct. 2025) have a chicken sandwich special for only $4.99 We each ordered the Big Mary Monday Sandwich plus a single order of small fries with gravy, coleslaw and a bottle of water. The friendly cashier let us know that if we made it one order of a combo meal we'd save a little money (which we then did) with the same amount of food. Coleslaw was not too sweet (which was perfect). The small fries is what I'd consider a large order (not complaining but then we are in our 60's). There were more than enough for the 2 of us. Their chicken sandwich is the absolute best. Thick amount of juicy meat with an enjoyable amount of crunchy batter. I devoured my meal before having the chance to get a snapshot.
