Olu olu Poke is a new little gem in NDG/CDN. Walking distance from the Snowdon metro(2min), you can treat yourself to a mix of flavorful and fresh ingredients in one meal.
The owner and the staff are very kind and friendly. They really enjoy making your meal. In terms of decoration, it is a cute little Hawaiian joint themed. Can't wait for the pandemic to be over to enjoy a sit down and enjoy the feel.
I ordered 4 different bowls because we couldn't decide on what to purchase, and it did not disappoint. The combinations of ingredients is different from other poke bowl joints as each bowl was thougfully assembled with ingredients by the owner's personal taste. It is not simply throwing ingredients together!
My one personal suggestion would be to have an option for vinegar rice instead of furikake seasoning on the rice. Acidity goes well with fresh raw fish, and would ad another complexity to the dish. I encourage this local business, especially during this...
Read moreCaution with the store hours. Their sign says that they close at 21:00. But if you get in at 20:45 they tell you "Sorry, we're closed". I find it very disrespectful walking into a store during its "Open" hours and being turned away, because you just decided to close earlier for no apparent reason. Please update your real open hours, so people can plan accordingly. Regarding the poke, I would expect it to be very good, judging from the other google reviews. But I can not offer an opinion at this time. This is why give this place a second star...
Read moreI hadn’t heard of it before and saw the amazing reviews so I quickly called and ordered for pick up. I ordered two signature poke bowls ; Omao omao and Amelika. They both were amazing. The Omao bowl had a brown rice base with mixed greens, marinated tuna and salmon and topped with ponzu and Teri-unagi sauce. The Amelika bowl comes with white rice, shredded pickled papaya and carrots, cucumber, fried onion and peanuts topped with a lemongrass sauce. It was similar tasting to a Thai papaya salad but with all the extra yummy ingredients and fresh fish. They were both very unique and I am already thinking of coming back to try more. My only complaint would be that the bowl is a bit small for the price - I also have a...
