We went today, the hostess was smiley, friendly as usual. Our waitress in contrast was monotone, not smiley. Almost felt like it was a robot feeling. I thought hey, we're all different, she might had a bad morning. Whatever, it was respectful its fine. The low rating is because of the addition of the coming events... My breakfast arrived before my child's, by about 5 mins, not a big deal, but it had the time to cool down, before the other plate arrived. My toasts arrived cold, not even warm, cold, the butter was not melted. My child's order had brown bananas, like yes it happens, but I mean for a 12$ breakfast, serve me something fresh. If my child took forever to eat the banana, that's on us, but arrived brown, is just wrong and, the orange or grape fruit slice, was going bad, im unsure what it was. Like come on...
I always treat others like how I want to be treated. I wondered if they would think it's ok to receive this if they were customers.
My child ordered a smoothie the glass was chipped, yes it happens, who checks everryyy glasses, right? I asked the waitress for another glass, not even asking a refund or a new smoothie.. I explained my request, she non achanlantly brought the glass and dropped an unsincere apology.
I never got a refill coffee, my child had a juice with her meal, waitress didn't ask if we wanted it since my child ordered a smoothie. Other breakfast place would have still offered to bring because it came with our meal. Yes, I could have asked, but waitress wasn't very present. She came to ask if eveyrything was ok, to which I said meh, she asked for details. And I told her, well my breakfast was cold. To which she replied, I should have told her earlier... I didn't want to argue, but deep down is.. she was unavailable when I looked for her...
She later passed by and asked if I was done, I said yes, she left everything there.. I spent the last 10-15 mins, with dirty plates, empty coffee mug and empty smoothie glass... before she comes back and asks if I wanted her to clean it.. deep down, i was like no, duh, I'd like to continue having this in my face.
I placed my wallet with my debit card pulled out, clearly showing I needed the bill, took a while to get it. I got a 15% discount... like ok this is the classic for "bad experience" but to me, I was ready to pay for whatever we ordered... all I wanted was a genuine apology/care of customers satisfaction.
I really liked this place, it was my go to pre-pandemic. Now, I think today will mark my last visit. Let's be honest, 2 eggs sunny side up, bacon is something easy to make, I just wanted to enjoy a good time with my child and a hot breakfast. Because, generally speaking, moms don't get to eat hot breakfast while caring for their kids.
Very disappointed with...
Read moreNever visited this location before today and I now know that I am not returning for another breakfast with friends.
The food and drink quality was alright, but what made today's experience unpleasant was the service.
Shortly after my table ordered our food, the server (W. Hajar as was written on the bill) asked us about how the bill was going to be split. The timing of being asked this question was strange considering we didn't prompt our server and the restaurant wasn't at full capacity.
Just as half of our table finished their breakfast, W. Hajar returned to us and threw the bills onto the table. She removed the plate and utensils of my friend who was forced to eat the remainder of his breakfast in one hand. I hadn't finished my plate of food and I reached out to pick up and look at my bill, to which W. Hajar reacted with "Oh no, take your time" and a laugh.
I looked around the room to see and notice that we were the only table being treated this way.
The thing that pissed me off the most was the fact that W. Hajar informed my friends and I (a group of 4 people) that our tips were included in our meal price.
My bill for two people with added drinks came out to $59.33 after taxes but the credit card reader read $69.41.
I reverified my bill to check if the tip was calculated and it was missing. I also took a look at my friend's bill and saw that there was no indication of the tip amount and calculation on it either.
In Quebec, we have a law (Bill 72) which states that the server is supposed to charge the subtotal (amount before tax) on the credit card machine and then the tip amount can be entered.
W. Hajar pre-programmed a 17% tip on the final total of both bills. We requested that we enter in the tip amount ourselves and to speak with management. And as luck would have it, of course, we were unable to discuss our bills with the manager because they never passed by our table for damage control.
You can bet that we did not pay W. Hajar the standard 15% as she was eyeing the amount we entered onto the machine. We paid a tip of 5 to 6% because we felt we were discriminated against and we received rude service from a liar.
So, TLDR: I don't recommend that you visit this Allo Mon Coco location. Save yourself the trouble of becoming a victim of gouging tip amounts set by your server on...
Read moreFirst and last time coming to this location. My friends and I were extremely disappointed and angry with the service we received.
The food was alright and the portion was smaller than I had in different Allo Mon Coco I have been.
From the beginning, ordering was very difficult due to the server’s limited language skills. Shortly after we received our food, the server (name on the bill: W. Hajar) asked how many bills we would need—something I have never been asked at any restaurant before we were even finished eating. To make matters worse, while we were still eating with drinks and food on our plates, W. Hajar placed the bills on our table. This was incredibly unprofessional and made us feel rushed and unwelcome.
My friends and I were looking at other tables and I see that W. Hajar is treating other people the same way as us, but we did not see W. Hajar treating them the same. We felt discriminated and not welcomed in the Allo Mon Coco.
At any normal restaurant, you only receive the bill after you are finished eating and request it—not in the middle of your meal.
The kicker is when W. Hajar, program the machine to add her own tip, which I would like to mention is more than 15%. We had to clarify multiple times that the receipt says tips included and if it’s not included, we would like to put our own tip. It took more than 5 minutes.
Also, we asked for the Manager to come by and discuss more about the price. She never came to help. Which shows they are indifferent on customer service.
When we left a smaller tip than the standard 15% because of the poor service, W. Hajar complained about the amount. We explained it was due to the bad experience, but W. Hajar dismissed us in a very upset and demeaning tone.
This entire experience was disrespectful and unprofessional. We will not be returning to this location.
I would not recommend. And I do not know how they have a 3.9/5, I believe it...
