Unfortunately, we didn't get to try this restaurant because they suddenly stopped doing deliveries or pickups through UberEats or by calling the restaurant. We had some friends over on Saturday evening, and we planned all week for the starters, supper, and dessert we would order from Table 51 on Rue des Jockeys. As a (now) retired World Class Chef, I know enough to call ahead on the day before (Friday), to see if there would be issues with placing an order for 6 people to be picked-up either through calling the restaurant or on UberEats at approximately 7pm so as to not create issues with a busy kitchen. Because of my experience in running restaurants, I know enough to do this to get the best possible take out experience I can and not throw off the kitchen staff during what could be a normally busy time at the restaurant. I was assured during the call, that there would be no issues with placing an order for that many people and the time I was thinking about ordering would be ok with the restaurant. The woman on the phone did inform me that if they happen to be very busy at the time I called, there may be a slightly longer wait time than normal for pickupwhich I completely understand. When the time came to place the order I went to the UberEats app and the app said the restaurant ordering system was down and that the restaurant was currently unavailable for orders. So I called the restaurant as to inform them UberEats was down and saying they were unavailable (many times, businesses/restaurant managers don't realize their tablet is off and wasn't turned on by the kitchen). The first woman I spoke with stated that she was aware, and the restaurant was extremely busy and they weren't accepting UberEats orders at this time. I enquired as to how long this would be and she put me on hold while I assume she was going to ask the kitchen how long the UberEats app would show the restaurant was unavailable. A second woman came on to inform me it would be until at least to 9pm (this was the woman I spoke to on the Friday about placing the order and had told me this wouldn't be a problem). I then asked to place the order over the phone with the restaurant, and I'd pick it up myself. She abruptly said .. "NO, the kitchen is too busy for an order of 6 people" and as stated previously, "I'd have to wait until at least 9pm and even then, they may not take any more orders at all over the phone or UberEats tonight." She then hung up on me before I could inform her I was the gentleman who called her the day before and was informed placing an order at that time for pickup would not be an issue. This unavailability completely ruined our evening and we had to quickly scramble to try and find another restaurant of the same caliber to place an order with and for all of us to find something we wanted. Don't get me wrong, I understand that restaurants get busy BUT what's more upsetting is that I've later come to find out over the past couple of days that shutting off their UberEats app or not accepting delicery/take out order is a semi regular occurance from this restaurant. I was misinformed during the call on Friday and if the woman had informed me then that, at times they may temporarily stop taking takeout/delivery orders we could have had a backup plan just in case. I'm sadly disappointed, and I'm not sure if I'll try to order from or even go into this establishment a second time. My only recommendation is that if you're thinking ahead of placing a takeout/delivery order from Table 51 on Rue des Jockeys, have a backup plan just in case their ordering...
Read moreYesterday a few friends of mine and myself spent an evening at your establishment. I was expecting the same result as what I experienced in your Laval location. Although the food we ordered was delicious there were various disappointments to the evening . Firstly, 6 of us ordered the table hôte . We were told the table hôte is accompanied with a clam chowder, our waiter came back stating the clam chowder is included only with the pasta dish. Table hôte is usually the special of the evening and is always included with soup or salad and coffee . My husband is in the restaurant business therefore they’re a few things I am aware of. Secondly, we had to ask for bread and water at the table, and we were bounced around to 3 different waiters . When we finally got our waiter back that initially served us, my friends and I made it aware to him that we didn’t get the our soup therefore the waiter tried to redeem himself and offered two free deserts for the table. My friend specified that there was six table hôtes and we should all have a free dessert. The waiter respected our request and served us. Thirdly what goes best with dessert coffee right? I had to flag down another waitress to get that for me, meanwhile she didn’t ask anyone else at the table if they care for a cup as well. Listen, I’m not making a mountain out of anthill, however when you choose a fine dining establishment to share an important evening with , your expectations are high. Especially at table 51. People go out to be served and for an experience. Yesterday felt like I was being served at casa greque and their main objective was to turn over a table, Quantity vs quality. Your Laval location is excellent and that staff should train your décarie staff. One of the main reasons we chose table 51. I’m not going to mention your waiters name because it’s irrevelant . Your staff lacks organization and are aloof to what really matters that brings customers back and that is service. Your hostesses I must say were very pleasant and greeted everyone with a smile. I’m addressing this to you for you to be aware that I understand what it takes to open a business, the blood sweat and tears not to mention the money. As a wife of a restaurateur, I’m reaching out as a friend , protect your investment, DO NOT COMPROMISE SERVICE .
You will not see me at this location anymore however your Laval location I’ll continue to...
Read moreThey did not deliver as they normally do in terms of quality but I think for the most part, front of house was making a good conscious effort in trying to make things better although my colleague claimed to have notice that our table was not wiped clean
Although we had a reservation a month in advance, we were told to wait for a table for 15minutes and once we finally sat down, we were missing seats; had to wait for an extra table to be added ( as it looked very very packed understandably so we tried to be patient about it.)
But then we waited a good hour for our food to arrive (understandably so as it was a very busy night) however, the food was overall underwhelming for most people.
People who ordered burgers, the burger meat itself was cooked nicely and taste good But all our buns were literally cold.
Padthai taste good but noodles were sadly soggy undercooked
Someone returned an undercooked porkchop.
The steak taste like absolute charcoal as if it was cook on a grill that had not been cleaned in months. But the staff helped us a great deal by having us not pay for it.
The mac and cheese was fine and the ribs too. Steak and cheese toquitoes arent as good as they used to be they taste okay but won't be ordering that again.
I tipped 18% (generous given the situation) in spite of it all because I honestly just felt bad for the staff and saw some effort on their part. I am certain it was warranted if others may have tipped much less as half our party was extremely unpleased.
I'll come back eventually I know it was a very off day but majority of my party will not as it was their first time there and it really sucked for them, I really told them what an amazing place this was and it...
