Living in Japan for 10 years, This teriyaki chicken won't transport you to the bustling streets of Tokyo, but for a dependable weekend meal, it hits the mark. The teriyaki sauce, while leaning a bit on the sweet side, offers a pleasant balance of savory notes, making it broadly appealing. You won't find the nuanced depth of more authentic preparations, but it coats the chicken nicely without being overwhelming.
Teriyaki Vegetables: A Mixed Bag the teriyaki vegetables and while the flavor profile was decent, the execution left something to be desired,
The main issue was the texture of the vegetables. They were unfortunately overcooked, resulting in a soggy consistency that lacked any satisfying bite. It felt as though they had been simmering for too long, losing their vibrant crispness.
With a little more attention to the cooking time, these teriyaki vegetables could be a truly enjoyable dish. As it stands, the good flavor is overshadowed by the disappointing texture.
The shrimp tempura was decent enough, but it didn't quite hit the mark for truly exceptional tempura. While the shrimp itself was fresh and cooked through, the batter lacked that delicate, airy crispness that defines great tempura; it was a little heavier and less ethereal than ideal. This resulted in a slightly oily finish rather than the light, melt-in-your-mouth experience you hope for. It wasn't bad, just...
Read moreI used to eat here with my mom when I was little and everything was perfect and close to being authentic. I visited a few weeks ago and we were truly disappointed. First when I went to the washroom, all I heard was Vietnamese coming from the kitchen. I asked for a bottle of black and gold sake to be served warm and the waitress came and told me no one drinks it hot. It's meant to be served cold. We I've had it warm or room temperature in many high end places and even in Japan so I don't see why it's such a problem. I must add, black and gold is not meant to be served cold. Only slightly chilled. We found out they microwave their sakes so we decided to just go with a cold sake. I mean what kind of sake expert microwaves their sake? We ordered an assortment of sushi sashimi and Maki with some specialties. The "sirène" was fairly good. The lotus very good, though was cut in huge pieces. Really too big for the mouth. Their makis although we ordered different kinds, they all tasted very similar. Now the big disappointment, they served us unfresh ika, uni and this white fish or maybe even tilapia they tried to pass as hamachi. It was quite upsetting. We did not stay for dessert.
We will not...
Read moreNice place, the sushi is really good here, but the waiters interrupt every 2 seconds to pour more water, too much interruptions while I was trying to enjoy my meal and have a conversation with the company i was with! I am there to enjoy my time with the people i am there with, and not to have an ongoing conversation with the waiters, that bring something to the table every 2 seconds, it shouldn't be about the waiter. He brings codiments one by one, by the end it was super annoying, it looked like he was new and was trying hard, which gave the opposite effect of what he was trying to achieve, making it super annoying. I hope waiters realize that if we are at restaurants, it's to enjoy the presence of the people we are having supper with, and not make it...
