I recently visited the Caravane Café and, overall, my experience was fine, though not particularly remarkable. The café has a cozy, laid-back atmosphere that instantly makes you feel comfortable as soon as you step inside. It’s tucked in a corner of the neighborhood, with a modest yet charming décor—think wooden tables, soft lighting, and a few plants scattered around, which give it a homey, welcoming vibe. There’s plenty of natural light, making it a pleasant spot to hang out, read, or do some work. It’s the kind of place you could easily lose track of time in.
The service was friendly, which I always appreciate, but it was a bit slower than I anticipated. The staff seemed a little distracted, and it took quite a while for my order to be ready, even though the café wasn’t particularly busy at the time. There were a few other customers around, but nothing that should have caused the delay. It wasn’t a huge issue, but if you're in a rush, it might be something to consider. That said, when my order did arrive, the staff was kind and apologetic about the wait, which helped soften the experience.
For my order, I went with a cappuccino and a croissant, two staples I like to judge a café by. The cappuccino was decent, though not quite up to par with what I was hoping for. The coffee itself was smooth and well-prepared, but it lacked the depth and richness I expect from a good cappuccino. The flavor was on the milder side—more milk-forward than the bold espresso taste I enjoy. It was definitely drinkable, just a little underwhelming, especially since I was hoping for something with a bit more punch.
As for the croissant, it was fresh but not exceptional. It had a nice, golden exterior, though the texture inside was a bit denser than I’d prefer. A little more flakiness and a bit more butter would have made a big difference in elevating the pastry. Still, it wasn’t bad—it was just not the standout treat I was hoping for. I’d also noticed a variety of other pastries on display, so I’m curious to try something different next time, but I can’t say the croissant wowed me.
The vibe of the place is definitely one of its strong points, and it’s clear that the café is designed with comfort in mind. The seating is varied—there are a few tables for two, larger ones for groups, and even a small counter area near the window, ideal for solo visitors who want to watch the world go by. The music playing in the background was unobtrusive, and the overall noise level was low enough to make it a perfect environment for reading, chatting, or getting some work done. There's also a small selection of books and magazines available, which adds to the chill, low-key atmosphere.
I did notice that there’s a small selection of specialty drinks and snacks that could be worth checking out. I didn’t try them on this visit, but the menu looked interesting. There’s also a decent variety of teas and a few vegan options, which could be appealing for people with dietary restrictions.
While my visit was generally pleasant, there’s a feeling that Caravane Café is still finding its groove. It’s definitely a café I’d visit again if I’m in the area, but I wouldn’t go out of my way for it. It’s a comfortable, easy-going spot, but it doesn’t quite have that “wow” factor that would make it stand out in a city full of great coffee shops. If you’re just looking for a quiet place to relax or need a break from the hustle and bustle, this could be a good spot. But if you're a serious coffee lover or have high expectations for your pastries, you might leave feeling like there are better...

At the recommendation of my riad, I stopped in for dinner by myself one night. The place was beautiful, and no matter where you were there was something to look at. It’s great to take it all in as you wait for your food. Even better is that Caravane Café offers free entertainment for guests, and the fire dancers were amazing! I’ve never seen anything like it before, and the whole restaurant was delighted.
The staff were so attentive and the service was wonderful. They welcomed me, and my food was promptly delivered to my table. I couldn’t have asked for better service from the entire crew.
The menu features dishes from across the world, including French, Mediterranean, Caribbean and Asian. I started with a selection of smoked fish, and the chef chose the perfect cuts – smoky, fresh, and flavorful. Excellently seasoned.
For my main, I opted for shelled king prawns with saffron sauce. The grilled prawns were large and melted in my mouth, and the beautifully colored saffron sauce was the ideal accompaniment. I ended my meal with a cake duo, highlighting a rich chocolate lava cake and a caramel cake with ice cream. Both cakes were freshly baked and just a tad sweet. What a finish!
