My craving for a savory BĂĄnh MĂŹ sandwich led me to the doors of BĂĄnh MĂŹ 79, conveniently located in a bustling yet accessible part of the town. The ease of finding a parking spot set a positive tone for the experience ahead.
The interior of the restaurant exudes a subtle charm, with a warm and inviting ambiance complimented by the courtesy of the staff. My order, a spicy lemongrass beef BĂĄnh MĂŹ, was delivered with efficiency, and its size hinted at a satisfying meal. The first bite into the warm, crispy, yet soft bun set the stage for high expectations.
However, the unfolding experience did not fully align with the initial promise. The distinct flavor of lemongrass was absent, a notable omission that made the sandwich fall short of authenticity. The coriander, although fresh, was poorly presented, hanging untidily out of the sandwich. The toppings were sparse, and the beef was chewy, not offering the tender, succulent bite one would hope for.
The request for a spicy kick was inconsistently met; the spice was concentrated on one end of the sandwich, leaving the other bereft of the desired heat. Each bite presented a fluctuation between the contrasting worlds of spice and blandness.
In conclusion, my visit to BĂĄnh MĂŹ 79 was a journey through highs and lows. The restaurant delivered on speed, service, and the quality of the bun, yet faltered on flavor consistency, presentation, and meat quality. The experience, although not entirely unpleasant, was ultimately unremarkable â satisfying the immediate hunger but leaving the deeper craving for a truly exceptional...
Read moreWeâve been here a few times and have eaten inside. Itâs more of a fast food style sit down over a restaurant. They have high tables and stools to sit on. This time we ordered the beef pot Thai and the barbeque chicken vermicelli with two imperial rolls. The imperial rolls Were not as crunchy as expected, kind of felt like they werenât made fresh on the spot. The dipping sauce was enjoyable. Even though youâre ordering to eat in, they serve your food in a box, not sure how I feel about that. I guess it could be a good thing if you canât finish your meal and would like to take it home with you. You have chopsticks option and they do also have forks if youâre unable to use chopsticks. The barbeque chicken was good. They offer either fish sauce or soya sauce as a dressing. The beef pad, Thai, however, was slightly more flavorful. Itâs best if youâre walking to this restaurant since parking can be difficult to find on Saint Catherine Street, itâs also possible to find a parking garage nearby to enjoy the...

They have 4 menus: sushi, pho, Vietnamese sandwiches, and poke
I have tried their Vietnamese sandwich (the special, it contains many grilled meats in a baguette) and it is very filling (even though I find the bread a bit too much)
I have tried their sushi and I recommend the 4 saisons which has a bunch of fish meats like Salmon and tuna and is very tasty and also nutritious
I also tried their poke bowls. they are very tasty (I only wish they had eggs too) but they still are great
their service is friendly and great. All this is available at a very decent price. The service is friendly.
I do have positive criticism: include eggs in your pokebowl, increase your meat and fish portions. poke and pho soup without eggs are...
