The food and the experience is below average. If you really have an urge to have Chinese Buffet type food, go to the nearby local Asian grocery’s hot food counter. The food taste is about the same. The only difference is you’ll save some $
Here’s the reason for my rating;
Food for the most part is very salty. Soup was bland. The sushi tasted like your supermarket sushi. The mussel was surprisingly good though.
The water glasses were pre-filled before all the guests arrived and the waiter refused to change them when asked. One glass of water tasted sour and we changed it ourselves.
The men’s washroom had no working urinals. Unacceptable for a restaurant less than 1 month old and can seat hundreds of customers.
When reserving, I was reassured the price was the regular Monday - Thursday price. They increased it to the higher weekend price and only put a small sign next to the cash to advise only the most observant customers . They automatically added tip on the amount including tax. When I challenged them, the lady gave me the option to pay cash. It sounded fishy and I just paid with my credit card card
In short, if you’re curious on the food experience at this new place and have any nostalgic connection to the establishment because it’s located at the old Fu Lam buffet, you’ll be disappointed.
@ the owners, no need to apologize or make amends. I hope you take my feedback and take corrective actions. There’s too many wrong things to blame it on coincidence or junior...
Read moreI've been waiting for this place to open after seeing the owner's post on RedNote. Definitely did not disappoint!
The food is good, they always bring out small portion of hot food, so it's always fresh. The food section is quite small, but they change up different dishes to replace finished ones for variety.
I went for a Saturday lunch, it's definitely worth the price, the chashu and roast duck are really good. Not to mention the chocolate Swiss roll is to die for, my photo doesn't look too good, but please try if you are there. The chocolate fountain is a little disappointing, It's probably asking too much for tempered chocolate, but I think dark chocolate will be a better choice.
Overall I hope this buffet restaurant survive the Montreal economy (I have high hope) Will definitely come back when I'm craving...
Read moreFirst time back to the former restaurant known as Fu Lam in years. I really enjoyed the food and the service from the hostesses was amazing. But the following things ruined our evening. Plates and cleanliness . Why are the plates at foot level under the food at the buffet ? Not washed properly and dirty. Why were the waiters constantly removing our plates when we weren't finished with them ? Rushing us to eat ? And we were a party of 8 people. Why did the waiter put the tips on our bills before giving them to us ? Legally by law you can do that with larger parties 15-20 people and the customers need to be informed before eating. And finally Roast Beef and large Ham should be cut by a server. Not customers who miscut the food and leave it messy for other customers. I'm hopeful to see some improvements on...
