Faccia Brutta — Restaurant in Montreal

So glad this opened, it’s the only place in the area with a great deck / fancy feel! First time we went, we didn’t expect much but just hoping for a beer in the sun. Turns out this place is so much more.

Small menu but ALL exquisite dishes. Watch any good cooking show and they’ll tell you to focus on just a few really good items. Plus they change it up all the time, it’s really just a personal “great chef’s playground”. Special shout out to the grilled broccoli starter, yum! Next thing: tell them if you have any dietary preferences and they’ll adapt any dish. Like literally three visits now and they’ve done this to accommodate my preference for no dairy.

Finally drinks. While it’s focus is probably on the wine list, they have a decent list of everything else. And custom drinks too, as well as just the ability to recommend something based on what you feel like.

Inside, it’s intime, the resto section is simple but cute with nice tables and candles, close to the kitchen and bar makes you feel like you know the owners and are special invitees.

The video lottery room breaks the ambiance a little, but you know what? If it helps them stay in business so this precious corner stays active, I’m all for it.

I’m sorry to have to leave only 3 stars but this is what I feel it deserves. Let me start out that the service and friendliness is great. The low rating is based on the food and value. We started off with a few (3) entrees. They tasted just ok but you didn’t get much value for the price. I’m surprised they charge 1$ per tiny slice of bread. The oysters in 1 dish weren’t cleaned properly and had sand in them. I know I should have complained but we were with new friends and I didn’t want to seem difficult. Maybe that kept us from ordering much after that but we then opted for the BEEF shoulder plate. It was good (maybe a bit salty) other than the few pasta dishes they offered, the beef is the only SECONDI plate they offer. It was a very small portion. Didn’t order any of the pasta. I am so happy to have this restaurant within walking distance from my home. I like the concept of the restaurant and its decoration. fantastic summer atmosphere- there ia a terrace outside. Federico Fellini's films on big screens are something special. The food and cocktails and beer are aslo very good. We heard that there is live music there, we will definitely come back to listen it.
