Sous Le Palmier — Restaurant in Montreal

This place is overall good, but there is some basic things they are doing completely wrong

1- No second lines when you call, so if they are already on the phone when you try to call, too bad. When you are indeed able to talk to them, the service is not top tier. English or french, same outcome.

2- Extremely slow to prepare the food, I called 10 minutes in advance for a pickup, ended waiting 20 minutes inside.

3- The food quality is not consistent, 75% of the time It’s delicious 10/10. The remaining 25% is the food being too dry or not tasting fresh. I often have my porc grio being way to dry.

I had high expectations for this Haitian restaurant, but unfortunately, the food did not meet the mark. The plantains lacked the crispiness I was hoping for, and the sauce and rice didn’t have the flavor profile I expected. While I’ve had better experiences elsewhere, I was really hoping this spot would deliver.

That said, the customer service was excellent. The staff was friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming and positive environment. The restaurant itself is cozy and inviting, making it a nice place to dine in.

went with my wife and son to eat at the restaurant. the service was ordinary. the griot was dry, it didn't look and taste fresh, the salad was washy, the rice tasted good and so the plantain. then i look at my bill and there's an extra six dollars charge. so i asked the waitress what was that?? she said they charge 2$ fees by person when eating at the restaurant. there were no place in the menu or elsewhere in the restaurant advertising you of this extra charge not even the waitress warned us about this.
