We went to Grenade this summer and it was pleasant, as we sat on the terrace during a beautiful day to have a beer, and all in all it was a good experience. Because of this we decided to go back again more recently for a friends birthday to have drinks and a light meal. I called ahead to see if I could organize a birthday cake presentation, and I was open to bringing the cake myself if need be. I was told that they do not sing birthday songs flat out. Okay fine, fair enough. Upon entering the restaurant almost all the tables had reserve signs on them except one under the blaring speaker and one other table directly in front of the door (it was - 22). My feeling is that it would have been nice for them to tell me over the phone that I needed to place a reservation. Yes, I should have asked, but still, it feels somewhat disingenuous to not mention anything at all. Anyway, we took an area far away from the speaker at the bar. The service was not great either. While we were still in the process of looking at the menu with our party when the waiter came over to take my menu from my hands, and when I pointed out that would have left us with only 1 menu for 4 people he asked if we could share, I said no. In a passive aggressive jab, he came over with one more menu. At this point, the restaurant was far from busy, so it hardly should have meant scarce menus! I ordered the pad thai, edamame, and dumplings. For 15$, it was by far the worst pad thai I have ever had in my life. Terrible overcooked noodles with salty generic peanut sauce and doused in soy sauce. The edamame was equally disgusting with the peas swimming in crappy sauce and sesame seeds. Gross. He also served the beers with excess head and beer dripping down the sides of the glasses. Pretty lame for a place that supposedly prides itself on being a bar.
Score on service by phone: 1 out of 5 (not informing me of needing a reservation) Score on food: 1 out of 5 (really bad) Score on service: 2 out of 5 Score on atmosphere: 2 out of 5 (playing top 40 party tunes really loud at 8 at night ie. Outkast Hey Ya this needs to wait until at least 11 or 12AM, hello!)
We could not have gotten out of their fast enough and luckily there is a awesome karaoke bar down the street that was fantastic! They gave my friend a birthday song and a free birthday drink! Go there instead it is called L'Astral 2000, they only have chips for food, but even...
Read moreWe recently hosted our wedding reception for 40 people at Grenade Bar, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect venue.
The atmosphere at Grenade Bar is simply outstanding. The cozy ambiance made our guests feel right at home. Whether they were mingling at the bar or dancing on the dance floor, everyone felt comfortable and relaxed throughout the night.
We were well aware of how amazing the food served at Grenade Bar is, but it exceeded our guests' expectations in every way. From the appetizers to the main courses, every dish was expertly prepared and beautifully presented. Our guests are still raving about the delicious cuisine!
The music selection was another highlight of the evening. It added an extra layer of fun and excitement to the festivities.
However, what truly set Grenade Bar apart was the impeccable service we received throughout the planning process and on the day of our event. In particular, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the bar manager, Ludo. His professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine kindness made all the difference. From coordinating with us and catering to our special requests prior to the event to ensuring that every guest had a drink in hand and food on their plate during the reception, Ludo went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding party was flawless from start to finish.
All in all, we cannot recommend Grenade Bar highly enough for anyone looking for the perfect venue for their special day. With its excellent atmosphere, delicious food, fantastic music, and top-notch service, Grenade Bar delivered our in every way. Thank you to Ludo and the entire team for helping to make our wedding reception an...
Read moreI was unfortunately very underwhelmed by Grenade. My partner and I recently moved nearby, and were excited to try what looked to be a flourishing, great establishment. Let's start with the service: Prefaced by saying that it was not very busy at all (4 to 5 other tables). We were taken to a table and left for quite some time. We sat for maybe 10-15 minutes with no water or menu provided. Once we did finally order and receive our cocktails, they were... off. I ordered their Tokyo Kin which tasted like a watered down lemonade and you cannot convince me there was even a drop of alcohol in that glass. My partner ordered their espresso martini dupe, which was very underwhelming as well. Our food was fine, nothing grand. The presentation was lovely, however, $5 for 3 pieces of shrimp was a joke. Small portions, lack of flavor, and extreme prices made for a very unpleasant dining experience. If not an already frustrating experience, we then went to find our server so we could pay and finally leave. Upon walking to the bar we saw them eating and lounging on their phones. This was a very unpleasant experience and the bill being nearly $90 was laughable for what we received. I would recommend looking into other restaurants in the area unless you are wanting to have a terribly...
