The quality in this Harvey's been going down over the years. Used to probably be the best Harvey's in Montreal.
The first sign was the drink machine, when they changed it, which removed the option for vanilla and cherry flavouring. The second was when they started cutting corners. The best example I can give would probably be for the poutines. The Buffalo poutine for example, they lessen the amount of chicken nuggets they use. For the small one it seems like just one nugget cut apart. Can't even solve this problem by ordering the large. It's like 2 nuggets or one strip cut apart and they don't really put much sauce so it like you ordered fries with the portion of a large poutine. Wasn't a one time experience. As for the third, there seems to be a decrease in customer service.
The biggest appeal of Harvey's was that you could have your meal the way you want it, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. At least in this location anyways. You normally could pick how you want what you order , from condiments, to sauces. You could even have the condiments as a side, from pickles to onions. This isn't limited to burgers, you could do this with wraps, hotdogs and poutines. Doesn't seem like the case anymore.
Tonight I had a Poutine Chicken Bacon Ranch Cheese. Like always I'd ask for some onions on the poutine. As the employee was about to do it, someone cut him off, the way she acted and how two employees differed to her, I guess she was a manager. Haven't seen her before, normally it's a gentlemen, so perhaps she's a new one or she just didn't have the shifts I normally visited. So I decided to ask for the onions in the side. Since I also had another meal besides the poutine there shouldn't have been a problem if the new manager only had a problem with it being added to the poutine. (As someone who has ordered poutine for years and has even worked at another Harvey's before, I know you can add just about anything in your poutine) Normally they give it to you in a small container if you ask for it in the side, or if you ask for pickles they wrap it with what they use for the burgers. She denied that too. When my meal came I half expected her to not let them put anything on there too from how she stopped them a moment when an employee was putting on the sauce.
Again, I'm not sure if it's just with this woman, I've never seen her before. I'll come by again one more time to see if they've changed their policy or it's just her policy. If it persist then there really isn't anything different from this Harveys than the Wendy's or Burger King across the street from it.
Suffice to say, there isn't much different from this Harvey's to any other anymore. And if you want your meal the way you want it like they advertise, maybe not eat...
Read moreThis place is great that it is open all night. I am staying in a hotel down the street and it was good to have a good place open that late. I used to live in Philly, PA, USA so having a burger joint open all night reminded me of when I lived in Los Angeles, CA.
The only thing I'd say is that this place is fine. I mean, it's not horrible, but they're charging $15CAD for an Angus burger and it just had no flavor to it on its own. It didn't taste juicy, but it didn't taste dry... it felt like you want to ask, "I ate something, right?"
At least if you get Five Guys, you can really taste the beef... here you feel like you have to add something to it just so you can taste it. But again, I don't live here... maybe that's what people like. But it tasted good... just not worth the high price tag, to me.
One thing I'd give it credit for is the 24h availability... that's always a good thing... fries were good too, but again, it just tasted like I was eating something but not anything really memorable.
Although I'd also give it credit for NOT being like Shake Shack... which feels like it wanted to be a premiere establishment but felt about as forgettable. But Harvey's gives you a better fry container than both Five Guys and Shake Shack... better fries than Shake Shack..
So I'm not crapping on this place at all.... if I had the urge to have a burger at 3am (which sometimes I've been known to do), I'd come here... but if you had a White Castle next door, I'd go there. ;) And since you don't have those in Canada, this will do for a late night...
Read moreToday 13th of May friday at 2:30am I passed by and ordered at Harveys Decarie. It was the usual where I ordered at the cashier. And waited for someone to prepare my order. At 2:55am The guy who took my order (He’s black, tall) was sooooooooo slow preparing my order. He didn’t follow up on the only missing wrap that I ordered, He jumped to the next customer. That’s fine. He came back to my order and he was sooooooo slow again so I asked him, is someone preparing my wrap because I can see that nobodys preparing it at all and i’ve waited too long for it already. He was so slooowwwww even in replying and said because there’s drive thru.. What should I do with the drive thru when I’m almost 30mins waiting there. They found out nobody’s really preparing it at all. He intentionally didn’t inform the cook. So I told him I’m going to cancel my order. And he said okay. The manager an old woman (she was nice) was willing to do my order but he stopped her and said let her cancel her order. Wow I’m amazed that the guy still have a job. Next time I should have cancelled all my order even if you’ve already prepared it. You deserve rude customers as well. Bravo Harveys for hiring those kinds of lazy workers. I’m also aware how hard their job is and I was nice to the dude til the end. However, you deserve...
