I can say that I was expecting more for this place but this place is somewhere you go once and that's that.
The decor is absolutely beautiful here and also the bar area but very small.
We got seated pretty fast when we got there and we were seated at the bar area. The bar area is very nice but the only thing I would complain is the seat, because there's nothing to the hold your back so after a while it becomes uncomfortable to seat there.
We got served by the bartender I guess because he was the one making the drinks, for drinks we got the mule and the sour, but they weren't anything spectacular.
The menu had an option for sharing and a sushi option, so we opted to get a few different things to share. We got the Miso soup, the seaweed salad, these were both very good and fresh ingredients. We also got the fried cauliflower and this was very good aswell, probably one of my favorite things that we got
When it comes to the sushi we were disappointed, the sushi wasn't anything special. We got the venom, the dragon eye and the sea paradise. Our favorite was the sea paradise. The dragon eye was nothing special but I definitely do not recommend the venom, the bonito flakes ruined the entire sushi roll because of the strong taste of the bonito.
The service was pretty fast. This place is good for small groups I find although they did have 2 tables for big groups. This place is somewhere that you go once to check it out but it's definitely not the best...
Read moreI so wanted to like this place, but we ended up being so underwhelmed by the food that we left and went to another restaurant after trying a few dishes.
Pros: Great sake list. Service is beyond reproach. Beautiful Decor. They were very accommodating to my onion allergy.
Cons: The food is just so underwhelming. We had the Chef's Choice Sashimi which was sea bream drowned in a mango sauce and the O.G. Maki which was again drowning in sauce and mayo. Why?! Why not let the ingredients shine?! I have noticed this Montreal trend of goopy/saucy/fried sushi and I just don't get it. The karaage was alright, but karaage is always very good. While this one was also good, it was the least exciting karaage I ever had. We also originally ordered the Fancy As Hell maki but were told afterward it was pre-mixed with onions. By this point we'd tried two of our other orders and opted out of replacing that order with another one in favour of going elsewhere for a better meal. So the food is perfectly fine, I'm sure most people would be satisfied with it. However, these portions are quite small and very pricey for the amount of food (5 pieces per plate, and $16-$22 per plate). It's meant to be more tapas/snacking style, but the price of the plates isn't very conducive for that.
Overall: We'll be back to enjoy some sake in the great ambiance but probably won't be ordering anything but...
Read moreAn overrated place. If you are looking for a welcoming place or authentic Asian/Japanese dishes, do NOT come to this place. The place has nice decoration but it is smaller than how it is appearing from the picture. The seat is relatively crowed. Food is way overpriced and the portion is very small, my partner and I got three dishes and the yaki udon is horrible. Takoyaki is fine and chicken katsu is average but Yaki udon is very salty and it barely has much chicken, the taste is very off from our expectation. The service was horrible and it seems like they don't welcome English speakers at all. Waitresses were rude, arrogant, and not professional. They did not offer you water or other beverage to drink so you will have to ask them first and later they did not come to fill the water up either. My partner forgot leave a tip on the machine by mistake because we could not understand French, and later the manager came out to question us the reason of doing so but in a very rude way, it was like if he was looking for a fight. We ended up giving tips but this whole experience is unpleasant. Rude staff, bad food, will...
