It’s been over 3 years but I forgot to give an updated review. I thought about not posting it because I was always taught “if you do not have anything good to say, best not to say it”. Initially, I just thought it was an off night so I didn’t want to change my review but when I have 4 other friends who experienced the same as me at different times, then i no longer categorize it as an off night. Again, my update dates back a few years back so it has nothing to do with the pandemic.
My bf and I had a date night at this restaurant approx 5pm. I distinctly remember this was the case because we had a show to attend around8pm. The inside of the resto was empty (but let’s assume I was blind and didn’t notice the 2-3 customers inside). The patio wasn’t full yet as it was still early, but let’s exaggerate and say there were 8 people. I’ll never forget this… it took 15 minutes for a waitress to say that someone will come and help us, another 15 minutes for a waitress to take our order, 30-45 minutes to get our 6 oysters. Seeing that the service was horrendous before she even put the oysters down, we placed a few other orders. We were cutting it very short. I don’t remember the details of this but it took 25 minutes longer to get the fries and another small order… we never got our extra 6 oysters because they had forgotten… we asked for the bill because we had to leave. It took another 20 minutes to get the bill. I HATE complaining but I have my limits and I could not have justified being served 6oysters , 1 order of fries and 1 other tapas and 2 drinks in 2+ hours. We both left hungry and frustrated. Maybe, just maybe if they acknowledged that something was wrong we would have been more forgiving but my goodness , were they at the ocean harvesting the oysters when we placed our order? I will keep my initial review because it was how I felt the first time I went there and it’s only fair to be honest.
Initial review: Food was tasty. A bit on the slower side but it was fine. The three waiters/waitresses we had to deal with, went from nice to nicer. I can't judge how it is on the inside since I only sat on their quaint terrace but I'm sure it's as nice sitting indoors. Terrace has limited spot which in some ways made it great because it couldn't get rowdy. The ambiance definitely made me enjoy the...
Read moreWe live just around the corner and have been frequent visitors of this spot for a long time. Unfortunately, the customer service has left us disappointed today when we stopped by for a quick drink.
We asked to sit on the outdoor terrace at a table for four, and the waitress declined because we were only two people. Fair enough, though a bit rigid and as much as we frequent the spot, I’ve seen two people at larger tables before. We then asked about a table by the open window, but were told it was reserved. We explained we’d only be staying briefly and would gladly move if needed — but were still turned away from both spots.
What left a bad taste was passing by again no more than 10 minutes later to see two people seated at the very same table we had asked for. It's frustrating to be treated like an inconvenience, especially as loyal customers who genuinely enjoy the space. It’s a great location with potential, but the service and attitude need work.
There’s a lot of great spots to grab a drink in the area so I hope they reconsider how they handle such situations and avoid turning away...
Read moreLove this down to earth and unassuming little place.
Sandwiched between a number of Griffintown / Little Burgundy heavy hitters like Grinder and Foxy, you'd be forgiven for not really noticing this little place.
It feels like a little neighborhood / local's haunt, where you can nibble on a couple plates while having a good cocktail...without having to take out a second mortgage or spend an eternity debating your wardrobe choices.
Food is good, prices are fair, the atmosphere is docile enough that you can chat, but vibrant enough to afford distraction. Staff is VERY friendly and attentive...
It's really a great little place to have a relaxed, low key meal if you're from the area, or pop in for drinks and snacks before/after your main evening's activity.
Not so much a destination, more a target of opportunity you...
