2025/01/03 Was called out publicly for not tipping and physically blocked from leaving by what I presumed to be the manager. Had felt like a walk of shame leaving the Resturant with guests staring after the negative interaction with the manager
I’ll get right into it, the service was terrible and not accommodating at all, did not live up to any of our expectations for it being a higher end establishment. I always tip good/average service however tipping is not mandatory especially with bad customer services. Something this establishment does not seem to agree on. Group of 3 people
To my memory I have never written a bad review on Google before this will be the first and hopefully the last. Apologies for the long review.
I won’t give the waiters name as this review is not to tarnish her public image, but she was being very condescending as we asked questions about the menu. We decided individually not collectively to not tip as we felt the service did not reflect that of one that we would usually tip to.
The waiter decided to look over each of our shoulders as we paid to make sure we tipped and when we didn’t she had complained to her co-workers and what i presumed to be manager.
As we tried to leave the said manager blocked us from leaving and asked us about the service which we tried to be respectful about and said it was alright, he then started to try and push an answer he wanted by answering for us and saying yes at the end of each answer to get us to agree he then started to talk aggressively questioning us why we didn’t tip with other guests staring and listening into why this man was questioning us loudly and blocking our path to leave trying to force answers out of us.
This is why it felt like a walk of shame after he was done interrogating us like we dined and dashed
(Side note: barely an Italian Resturant with the dishes they had)
I would not recommend this place for anyone as the treatment we had received was not that of any respectable Resturant.
I’m leaving employees names out due to privacy concerns but I urge this establishment to better train their employees in how they treat customers. They have lost a customer for life.
I also don’t know how to add pictures into this as of the initial post but will add later if I find out how, but we ordered...
Read moreTL;dr - come here for mediocre food and horrible service
I organized a business dinner at Le Richmond on Tuesday, April 15, for a group of 12 out-of-town guests. Unfortunately, the evening turned out to be one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had — both in terms of service and food.
Despite booking in advance, securing a fixed-price menu, and even putting down a deposit, we were met with aloof, dismissive service from the moment we arrived. It took 30 minutes just to receive drink menus and place our orders, and another 30 minutes for the drinks to actually arrive. After that, no one checked in with us — not once — to offer refills or ask if we wanted to continue ordering. We felt completely neglected.
The food service was chaotic and poorly managed. Dishes arrived late and inconsistently, with one person at every course left waiting while the rest of the table had already been served. For guests with common dietary restrictions, such as gluten- or dairy-free, no real accommodations were made. These guests weren’t even given dessert. The restaurant had promised sorbet but only informed us 30 minutes later at the end of the dinner that it was “sold out” and there were no other alternatives. Essentially, those guests paid for a three-course meal and only received two. The food overall was mediocre as well, it wasn’t absolutely delicious or unique which made the experience an even further let down.
Throughout the evening, the staff was slow to respond — taking up to 30 minutes just to acknowledge basic requests — and overall, we felt ignored and unimportant. This wasn’t a case of a packed house either; we were one of only two tables in the restaurant. It genuinely felt like the staff had no interest in our experience because they had already secured our deposit. When we raised our concerns with the manager, the response was a simple, indifferent “I’m sorry,” with no attempt to rectify the situation or make things right.
Le Richmond came highly recommended, but our experience was far from the standard suggested by the reviews. I would not return, and I strongly advise others to look elsewhere — there are plenty of restaurants in the city that offer far better service, food, and...
Read moreMy experience at Le Richmont was somewhat disappointing, primarily because the value didn’t seem to match the quality of service and culinary offerings.
Appetizers: Burrata: Adequate, but lacked any distinctive features to set it apart. Oysters: Standard fare; nothing noteworthy. Beef Tartare: Outstanding. It offered a perfect balance of texture and flavour with excellently chosen meat—a must-try.
Main Dishes: Flambées Pasta: This dish was a letdown. It’s touted as a signature dish, yet the pasta reminded me of something you’d find in a supermarket packet. While it was cooked properly, it lacked originality, and the Grana Padano sauce was barely recognizable. Black Cod: My companions enjoyed this dish, noting it was well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. Filet Mignon: Exceptional. The quality of the meat and the seasoning were superb, accompanied by deliciously flavoured smashed potatoes and sautéed legumes. This dish justified its price with its remarkable preparation.
Desserts: There was a notable service issue as the restaurant had only one serving left for Dark Praline Mousse and informed us only after we had ordered it. This lapse is unexpected from a high-end venue, and unfortunately, the staff did not proactively offer a solution. Following some discussion, we were offered Tiramisu as a replacement.
Dark Praline Mousse: It was the highlight of the desserts, featuring a sublime balance and exquisitely prepared brûlée banana. Tiramisu: Unfortunately, it felt pretty artificial and didn’t meet expectations. Ginger Panna Cotta: This was mediocre for my taste, seeming overly thickened with cornstarch.
Ambience: The restaurant presents an inviting, cozy atmosphere with charming wooden decor. The general level of service was satisfactory.
Overall, while there were high points in the culinary experience, particularly the beef tartare and filet mignon, the overall offering at Le Richmont didn’t quite live up to expectations, especially considering the high standards one anticipates from such an...
