Excellent fried chicken. There is a wide range of sauces to choose from. The kale salad is amazing with fennel touch. The batter is light and does not keep you feeling heavy after you eat it. You can also choose your chicken parts. For example I really like breast versus the leg piece. Their chicken waffle plate is to die for. Highly recommended for a date night or just with friends. A dj plays music some of the nights. Bartenders are chill and make amazing drinks. Restaurant is located on Notre Dame bear Griffintown and the vibe is amazing. I have been to this restaurant over 10 times and it is quite consistent. There was 2 of the 10 times where Serivce Was a little slow however I have seen that they recouped well by excusing themselves. The kitchen looks clean and cooks are very experienced. A bonus is the hidden bar in the basement . Very cozy and chill. The music is amazing and a great spot for drinks after dinner or even if you want to eat there. The bar is a little tight but that is its charm at the same time. Also available on Uber eats. I would suggest the in person experience instead of Uber eats or take out. I guess just something best eaten hot out of the oven / kitchen. They have a wide variety of vegetable plates as well. Some include the hot corn plate which is very unique in taste and has you appreciate corn again. There is also their Caesar salad which is better at the restaurant versus take out. They also have other funky plates such as their special take on poutine with chicken, try the hot sauce with it for a kick it is worth your while. My favorite sauces are ranch, Franks and chili. French fries are a little soggy at times, wish they could make them crispy and have a spicy mayo option for the fries. They also offer champagne which surprisingly goes very well with fried chicken. I would offer more selection on the champagne front but it’s very ok. Overall solid fried chicken restaurant with amazing vibe and feel. Definitely recommend for people also from out of town that want to try something different from the usual...
Read moreHad a reservation yesterday for dinner. Nice decor albeit small. Was quiet for dinner but the service was excellent. I ordered a Bulleit Remedy (14$) and my wife a virgin mojito (6$) The Bulleit drink was quite bitter but that could of very well been just a poor choice on my part. The mojito was great! We ordered the Chicken wings with Yeongyem sauce (16$ for a dozen) as an appetizer, they were likely some of the best Ive ever had! Nice little crisp on the outside and sauce on top was the perfect complement. It was explained as a less spicy general tao similar sauce (quite accurate) We proceeded onto the truffle mac and cheese (19$) again a win. Creamy, cheesy and hard to stop eating. After, the fried chicken and waffles (29$) I was a tad disappointed here. It being the specialty, I had high hopes. It arrived with way too much sirop...that was poured over the chicken and waffles...thus the fried chicken was now soggy. The sirop had a bit of a spicyness to it as well. I would suggest ordering the sirop on the side instead. Provide a small cup of pure maple syrup or house syrup, would allow guests to add what they want. The waffle was good. The chicken being soggy was unfortunate, the breading seemed extremely thick and one of the chicken pieces was quite odd looking. Despite that, water was kept topped up and wet naps provided, albeit would be nice if they just put a handful of wet naps on the table rather thsn the 1 at a time approach. The watermelon, mint and feta salad was refreshing and they were very generous with the Feta! Overall an enjoyable experience, with some minor drawbacks. I have to say I am a very harsh critic when it comes to food! I will definitely be back! Nice decor, great service, and very good...
Read moreLet me start off by saying that they did an incredible job on the design of this space. The Lighting, the bar, and overall ambiance is absolutely stunning.
As many people know a restaurants most daunting time is the first few weeks of being open, it's also the most exciting time. As I was standing there waiting for my takeout order to arrive I took In all the energy around me. Chefs yelling, wait staff buzzing and a general sense of happiness amongst tonight's attendees.
The staff was exceptionally friendly and in high spirits, they even took the time to offer me a glass of water while I waited (even though they were in the jus). The owner was working the pass like the proud captain of her ship, calling out orders and making sure her crew was in line and knew where they were going with the spoils.
I placed a simple order for the most basic offering, a three piece with maple Sriracha sauce and gravy. Once I got home I opened my treasure chest to reveal four perfectly battered, fried pieces of chicken (the chef gave me an extra piece because the third piece was on the small side, off to a good start!) a fresh cornmeal biscuit and some homemade pickles.
Everything was delicious. Chicken was tender but crispy and expertly seasoned. The maple Sriracha was on point with a nice balance of spicy and sweet. The biscuit was a tasty dense cloud that begged for a dip into the thick gravy which did a great job of coating everything it touched.
I am truly looking forward to sitting down next time and enjoying some of Bird Bar's other offerings combined with the warm and welcoming atmosphere. I won't include a photo of my meal as I don't think a takeout order does it justice but here are some shots of...
