Serge Reviews stuff: Restaurant Le Petit Vibe
This is the hole in the wall you talk to your friends about. The little fast food joint that produces a unique experience. Right from the entrance walking in, I was met with the 2 owners that were quick to give me recommendations that they we're excited about, for me to try. This was a pleasant welcome and felt like you were part of a big family, simply by walking in.
The staff felt familiar, modern and very welcoming. The timing on reception of food was beyond reasonable even quick tbh.
I ordered a bit of everything, the only thing I've noticed was the portion of shrimp of 3 was 8$. It was delicious regardless but felt out of character compare to the portions of pork imperial rolls and the main rice chicken and mac salad.
The chicken has this deep fry like on gentao crispy texture (which they nailed) and the sauce is unique, sweet, savory but then offset with nori and bonito flakes (which I think should be done on any gentao style chicken). The nori and bonito flakes are huge compliments to the sweetness of the sauce and add a strong umami component that adds freshness and contrast to the rich sweet sauce.
Also, I got the Cantaloupe cocktail with Rhum that was to die for. seriously, I'd face death for a cup of that cocktail. But we live in a world where you can buy it, so I digress.
Overall, go. Go there now. Like... drop your plans and go there. I am extremely impressed and will be back. 9/10 Restaurant Le Petit Vibe
P.S.: The owner is such a sweet dude that goes to Hawaii a lot and just wants to share his culture and unique cuisine with all of Montreal, which I found...
Read moreThey have a brunch menu as well! But they allowed me to order from their dinner menu during lunch.
I ordered the lechon and it was deliciously crispy and had a good amount of fat. It came with the mac salad and a green salad as a side on my plate. I read another review here that said the mac salad was tasteless, but it was pretty on par with the mac salads I've had in Hawaii. The waitress also suggested an "all-purpose sauce" to go with the lechon and I really quite liked it! Preferred it to the default vinegar sauce that my dish came with.
My boyfriend ordered one of their brunch dishes: the chicken and waffles. It came with ube butter! And you can actually taste the ube! The pancake itself was banana-based in taste. The chicken was perfectly fried, but my boyfriend said it was a little bit too salty. But I thought it was alright in saltiness.
We also got a spam and tamago musubi to share. Glad to see musubi offered! It was freshly made and quite warm to the touch when it got to us. Yum!
Overall, loved the decor here and happy with the variety of dishes offered! Have been missing Hawaiian foods since my Hawaii trip a few months back, and having more Filipino food options in Montreal are...
Read moreHeyyyy,
So I've been there three times now. The name, the concept, the staff, the music, the food everything on paper works and is dope.
First time, we had a big ol platter of fried sea food. Boy that was lackluster , overdosed on fried food so it left us with a bad impression. That being said, WE ordered it. I guess we should of could of ordered something else.
Came back a year later, to try their smash burger. A burgers a burger, Its hard to hate a burger. And so, the burger was good! But will I come back there for that burger, not sure. And not sure bout the papaya slaw in it, I think it would have worked better in a chicken sandwich as it takes away from the burgers beefiness.
Then, came back again for their birria tacos, cause I had a craving for that specific dish.. it turned out pretty ok as well ! Not mad at it.. the sauce saved the dish. The shells were nice and crispy, but the meat inside was flavorless.
As I said everything on paper works, the food is good but just good.
Anyway, this is all subjective and very personal.
I wish them nothing but more success from here...
