Le Trèfle Taverne Irlandaise — Restaurant in Montreal

I went into this place because it looked nice and I was looking for place to have some food and a pint and watch the game. I went in and found a seat at a table for four across from the bar and struck up a conversation with a guy sitting at the next table over. So far things were going well and I felt like I had found a promising new pub to hang out at. Unfortunately the next person I met was very unfriendly. He came over and said something to me in French. I apologized and told him my French wasn’t very good. He then asked me to sit at a smaller table even though the pub was only half full. I said I didn’t mind sitting with other people but he said that unless I had people coming that I would have to move. I told him that I liked the spot I was in because it had a nice view of the TV. I said I didn’t mind moving if the pub started to fill up. He didn’t seem very happy but he went away. Shortly after he left, a much friendlier server came by and asked if I wanted anything. I asked for a pint of 0%. Guinness. She soon came back with the pint and a menu. I had started to drink my Guinness and read the menu when the angry little fellow came back and insisted that I move to another table again. I told him I could still see plenty of other tables available. He said that there were some people who wanted my table. I laughed and said if they wanted my table that they could pay me for it. He said he was going to call the police! At which point I said that if I wasn’t welcome there then he should just give me my bill! I paid and left. On my way out he shouted happy Jean-Baptiste day! I will never go...

So nachos were made with beyond beef and gusta cheese - my only complaint would be that it was a bit dry. I know many people like them a lot tho, so maybe it’s just me, but I like it wet💦 I do mine with a cheesy carrot-potato sauce. So healthy and sooo good. But eating nachos in a bar like back in the old non vegan times felt good ! I also tasted their vegan Jamieson brownies - I’m not a choco fan (🙄) but it was quite good !

They also have a vegan poutine, and a vegan brunch ! If you’re in the East, could be nice options !

J'ai soupé pour la première fois au Trèfle avec mon ami, hier soir le vendredi 11 mars. C'était une belle expérience!

Points forts: *L'ambiance. Le restaurant était rempli de clients qui buvaient, mangeaient et bavardaient heureux. C'est un signe d'un restaurant attirant qui sait comment attirer et garder sa clientèle et donne un air chaleureux et hospitalier aux lieux.

La boisson. Mon ami a aimé son verre de stout, et j'ai beaucoup aimé la Blonde du Trèfle. Douce et fraîche aux saveurs subtiles. Puis on a aussi pris de délicieux shooters de Coureur des Bois. Props à vous d'encourager les produits québécois!

*La bouffe. Presque rien à redire. La première frite que j'ai mangé était un peu sèche, mais les autres étaient excellentes, juste le bon degré de croustillant. La sauce mayonnaise piquante était bonne mais je l'aurais pris un peu plus piquante. Le burger Tip-Top était tout simplement excellent! Pain brioché maison, poulet bien cuit, fromage goûteux, légumes bien assaisonnés. Le bacon était un peu gras, mais j'ai presque fini mon assiette. Mon ami a aimé son fish and chips et a fini son assiette. J'ai goûté à la sauce tartare et laissez-moi vous dire qu'elle est excellente!

*Le service. Les serveurs sont courtois, avenants, rapides et connaissent bien le menu. Ils nous ont fait des suggestions de boisson et apporté de l'eau bien froide quand je l'ai demandé. Merci les gars!

Points faibles *Un peu sombre. J'aurais préféré qu'il y ait un peu plus de lumière dans l'endroit. En même temps, je ne suis pas adepte des tavernes, peut-être que c'est toujours comme ça. Ça renforce l'intimité mais je trouvais moins rassurant de manger alors qu'il fait sombre à l'intérieur.

*Le prix. Peut-être un tantinet cher? Mais la qualité y est, si ça ne vous dérange pas de dépenser pour passer une belle soirée, je vous recommande cet endroit!
