Wish I could even critique the hairstyling of this establishment as it seems to be loved by many customers. I unfortunately, did not even have the luxury to have my hair cut and styled as I had asked when I called and booked an appointment for 1:30pm. Out of respect and excitement I arrive to the salon roughly 10 minutes prior to my appointment and wait patiently. I was greeted wonderfully and waited as a few minutes passed by which became 40 minutes waiting in the salon (30 minutes subtracting the 10 extra minutes I spent when I arrived early). I felt as though my time was not respected and as a result grabbed my coat and prepared myself to leave. I apologize to the employee who had greeted me and said 30 minutes was far too long to be waiting and this employee could not even make eye contact with me before saying "sorry" under her breath. This was when a stylist expressed his apologies to me which I appreciated but I did inform him I would not be returning to the salon. A woman who seemed to be a manager but had been having her hair cut while I was in the waiting room (which also confused me since I am a paying customer awaiting service and they knew I was coming in) approached me, when I explained to her how long I had been waiting her only response to me was "but he was running late" which I can understand, however just because the salon was running late does not mean I have to wait for over 40 minutes past the time I was scheduled. This manager with blonde/pink hair gave me horrendous attitude for being upset with this "running late" situation and I felt completely disrespected at this establishment. I am sad to say I would never return because of the poor...
Read moreMixed feelings. On one hand, the atmosphere is lovely, location convenient, and Daniel's technical skills are objectively excellent (I used to be a hairdresser, so I appreciate that). On the other hand, the haircut I got was not even close to what we agreed on. It took me years to grow my hair out, so the haircut being at least 3 inches too short is kind of a problem- think a bob sitting under the chin instead of softly layered below the shoulders cut. Full bangs are also something I didn't bargain for. My hair is wavy, and he haircut I got now requires a lot of product and styling to look good. Without styling it sadly looks like a frizz-bomb. I'm also quite upset that my hair clearly got washed with a sulfate shampoo, even though I stressed in the beginning that I had a keratin straightener in my hair. So that's a $300 anti-frizz keratin treatment gone in a blink on an eye, exacerbating the problem with styling my new haircut. The whole experience set me back $69 for cut and blow dry. A fair price in general. But, given that I got something that does not suit my lifestyle and that destroyed an expensive prior work, I can't really consider that a good deal. That said, the haircut itself is not bad and does suit my face- if I invest a lot of product and time into styling. Not sure how much good that is going to do with the upcoming fall winds and humidity though. I'm hoping the style will grow on me, but let's just say I'm not feeling it three days into...
Read moreOne of the worst hair experiences of my life. I went to NÜ Salon for a curly haircut with Maitland, trusting the positive reviews. What I got was a complete disaster: a choppy, uneven haircut with a blunt “shelf” layer on top and barely any hair left on the bottom. It’s completely unbalanced, doesn’t respect the shape or texture of my natural curls, and looks like it was done with zero understanding of curly hair.
When I saw the result and asked for it to be fixed, it became even more clear that he had no idea what he was doing. I was shocked. There was no control, no structure, no strategy — just confusion and hesitation with scissors in hand.
I’ve been in tears since leaving the salon. I had hoped to enter my 35th year feeling confident and refreshed — instead, I feel humiliated by a haircut I can’t even style that I paid $80. I have no idea how a salon can advertise curly cuts when the stylist clearly lacks the training or basic skillset to work with curls. This wasn’t just a poor cut — it was a deeply disappointing and emotionally damaging experience.
If you have curly hair:...
