Afroditi bakery definitely makes wonderful traditional cakes and I would definitely give a 9/10 for their traditional cakes (-1 out 10 only because the staff does not always pick a good/matching color to write on the cake, for example: vanilla cake with red/pink flowers and the writing is in brown/black instead of red, and it really doesn't look good as a final product). As for their customer service, I feel obliged to give them 1/10 because they haven't improved their customer service skills over the past 10-15 years that I have been ordering at their bakery. The staff is neither welcoming at the bakery shop nor on the phone. Whether I walk in person or call on the phone, whoever assists me is always in hurry. It is hard to trust that the cake order will be exactly what you want and what you have paid for. I have experienced a few missed cake orders and it was very disheartening.

It's very difficult to do business with them when they are not paying attention to you or not willing to serve you. I recently called at their bakery to place an order one week ahead and I wanted a traditional Oreo cake for 6-8 people. The rep who assisted me let me know that they no longer make small Oreo cakes and all they can make for me is the bigger size cake for 10-12 people ($40 as of October 2021). I wasn't happy with this response (considering that covid-19 virus is still present and therefore we did not have more guests other than family members) and I decided not to go ahead with my order. I then tried to reach their Facebook team to verify if this information was correct, and I get replied "Yes". A week later, I headed to La Petite Afroditi located at Mourelatos, Ville Saint-Laurent only to see small size Oreo cakes available there. (There were 2 of them available on Nov. 6th, 2021 at 11:30AM - please see pictures and you can clearly see that these are small size cakes compared to the cakes on top that are the bigger ones) Unfortunately, I had already placed my Oreo cake order elsewhere this time but honestly, I feel like I have been lied to. This really shows what kind of customer service Afroditi team is providing and it's very unprofessional on their behalf. This is exactly the type of customer service that they need to improve and especially be honest towards...

*edit....the customer service is really bad here, it just gets worse. Some people are ok but most of the ladies behind the counter couldn't care less about their customers only see $$$ signs walking through the door. I was asking for some help for a big event and she didn't even care or give me a straight answer when I asked to purchase a piece of the cake I was inquiring about. Myself and my family have spent thousands of dollars here for most of our family events and milestones and everyday items. It's so disappointing to see this place going downhill like this. I left the bakery empty handed and frustrated. I've overlooked the food poisoning I've got from here and the fillers they put in their savory pastries but enough is enough, there are so many other great bakeries to chose from, I suggest going elsewhere for the same baked goods with better value and customer service and appreciation.

*this is more recent...I have been there several more times now and they've been really nice. Everything was tasty. They charge high prices but that's ok if it's good not when the little cakes you bring to a guest's house are stale. How dare they! This has happened on more than one occasion unfortunately... Also, when a customer comes in the bakery they could at least acknowledge them or greet them. They completely ignore you if they are a little busy. It's too bad because when they care and pay attention they have really tasty savory pastries, Greek baked goods and great cakes....I guess it has to be...

A beloved Montreal institution since 1971, Pâtisserie Afroditi masterfully blends Greek and French pastry traditions, offering an irresistible taste of the Mediterranean. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the inviting aroma of freshly baked pastries, a spotless and well-stocked display, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The bakery’s attention to detail is evident not only in the quality of its desserts but also in the overall experience—from the friendly service to the charming, old-world feel of the shop.

On our visit, we indulged in a selection of treats, including their cheesecake and a variety of individual cakes, each one as delicious as the next. Every bite showcased the bakery’s dedication to quality ingredients and time-honored recipes. Their renowned Greek specialties—baklava, melomakarona, and kourambie—lived up to their reputation, boasting authentic flavors, perfect textures, and just the right amount of sweetness. Whether you’re a longtime fan of Greek desserts or trying them for the first time, Afroditi’s offerings are sure to impress.

What sets Afroditi apart is its ability to deliver both nostalgia and discovery in every bite. The prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and craftsmanship behind each pastry. With a rich history and a well-earned reputation, it’s no surprise that this bakery has remained a staple in the city for over...
