Heard some good things about this place. Decided to stop here first after driving from Ottawa. Was blown away that a sandwhich and tiramisu was $27. Cashier was friendly until he wasent, which was coincidentally when he saw we hadent left a tip( we tip in cash). The ordering is chaotic, had no idea where to wait for food. Waited 17 minutes for a sandwhich with 2 slices of meat and a slice of cheese on it. A bunch of the hard pieces of pickled banana peppers you find at the bottom of the bucket and a whole olive. At the 12 minute mark, we met the female employee who spoke very quietly in a crowded space. It was busy. She said something while holding a sandwhich, I assumed after it had been a while that it was mine. I turned to ask her about the sandwhich. She asked me what my name was. I told her. She then says "Well, this is Madison's order not yours". I did say okay and sorry. She trudged over to the crowd of people. Looked very displeased being there. My sandwhich came and it was plopped down between my partner and I with a "Here". This lady proceeded to stare at me while I was eating, making me very uncomfortable. I didn't finish the sandwhich, I just told my partner we could leave. We thanked them on the way out and left.
There is no where to hang your coat that is visible to you. Staff are iffy and it genuinely made me uncomfortable to be in there. Sandwhich was...meh. dry. No sauce. Nothing. Just oil and "pickled vegetables", just banana peppers. Its over priced and you get attitude for mis hearing. Don't think I will be back. I usually eat at Dagwoods( not available in Ottawa) and I regret not doing that. Partner said he enjoyed the tiramisu, but it was a bought in...
Read moreThis place is EXACTLY what we hope look for when we’re on vacation: A casual, non-pretentious place with food that is absolutely delicious! I enjoyed the charcuterie Panino and my wife had a Porchetta panino. Both were literally the best paninis we’ve had in North America and much of Italy. They both featured a special “relish” (for lack of a better word) that was a mix of lettuce, peppers pearl onions and exquisite seasoning. I wish I could have that on every sandwich I eat - forever! The mixtures is both exceptionally tasty and a bit spicy. When I took my first bite it was like a party in my mouth! I knew almost immediately that it was one of the best sandwiches that I’d ever had. Then my wife gave me a bite of her porchetta panino and THAT was even better. The seasoning on that pork just exploded my taste buds… and I’m not even a big fan of pork. One of the keys to the greatness of these sandwiches is the amazing bread. It has a perfect combination of a delicious, delicate center with a perfect, gourmet-crunchy crust. Not too hard or thick, but just right for marrying with the perfection of the ingredients. Not to be outdone were the staff! They were all every bit as wonderful as the food, and so welcoming and helpful. My wife and I truly can’t recommend the Parma Café enough. They served us a meal that we kept reflecting on with great fondness the rest of our trip. In fact, there is a very famous deli in Montreal called Schwartz’s which is known around the world for its amazing sandwiches. We ate there the day before and it was, indeed, good , but if I had to choose between the two, I’d eat at Parma Café hands down every...
Read moreElie found this café and suggested that we go and discover it together. To set up is a little bit weird, you order from the main cash. They place your order you find a seat and they serve it to you. There’s nothing weird about it. It’s just confusing when you get in because they don’t necessarily explain it to you. we’ve seen other places give a kind of number that you place on your table to identify one to the person that they know what to expect and two for the server to bring the food to the right table. We ordered a couple of sandwiches and a Caprese salad we decided to go with the large size which in all honesty was a little bit too big . There was cheese and tomatoes, which is great, however, way too much balsamic and not enough basil. For people who have travelled around and have eaten various types of Caprese salads (not that we’re being snobby) but this was not one of the better ones sadly. The sandwich was OK, the bread was really good. However, we didn’t really care much for the chopped up lettuce inside and the lack of certain toppings like bacon for instance . There were just a few strips, barely enough to cover the bread area. The fries, however, came in the gigantic basket which we were unable to finish. It was OK to visit. The decor inside is nice. a nice place to visit if you’re looking for a quick breakfast in a downtown area...
