I rewrote this review because the owner reported and hid it. In conclusion, overpriced, unprofessional, and unethical salon that I strongly suggest everybody to avoid, unless you wanna pay $310 for a non-existent perm and so-so haircut. Here's why - When I first made a reservation for a perm on the phone, the receptionist told me that for a permanent perm, price is $220 for short-medium hair and $250 for medium-long hair. I had short-medium hair and plus when I arrived, I made sure to have a haircut and my hair was just short afterwards. Then when they used product on my hair for the perm I confirmed with the hairdresser about the price, she insisted that I need to pay her $250 because $220 was for men's short hair. I found it ridiculous but didn't bother to argue with her since I already had a haircut, and if the perm was fine I didn't care paying her $30 more. I showed her a couple of pictures and she promised that she could do something very similar. However, the final result looked nothing like the pictures at all (minimum, uneven perm a bit here and there). I wasn't happy and she insisted that I needed to wash it a few times so that it looked more like the pictures, which is another scam since after I did it the perm was almost ALL GONE!! My boyfriend said he barely noticed me had a perm, like NOT AT ALL. This is not done. After I originally posted this review, the owner replied me, saying that I wasn't their customer because he didn't find my name on their visiting list. I found it funny that that they simply implied that people behind every bad review was a fake customer or their competitor. So I posted a screenshot of my bank statement, indicated the date and amount that I spent at their salon. They reported me and hid my review for that. So I don't mind retelling my story to everyone who has been seeing good reviews they paid. Good luck if ever you wanna pay $310...
Read moreCame in a bit scared because based on past experiences with other hairstylists, every time I tried to get my hair cut at a medium length, I’d end up looking like a grown-up Dora the Explorer (sorry Dora).
For reference I have a forehead the size of a television and my face is as wide as a football ball (laid horizontally not vertically). Because of my past bad experiences with hairstylists, I let my sister cut my hair,, which wasn’t the best idea ever. I was shitting and sobbing about the state of my hair so I booked an appointment to cut and style it despite my one-sided beef with hair salons. The hairstylist I was assigned to was Mao. I gave her freedom to do whatever as long as I kept my straight bangs covering my fivehead and could somewhat get a face-trimming hairstyle.
I didn’t have my glasses on during the chop chop hair part but at the end, when Mao showed me the final result, she cured my medium-length hair PTSD. I never went out feeling so cute and smexy and sigma in medium-length hair. The total came to 90$, which was fine by me I fully expected to pay 200$ and lose half my salary, but luckily wasn’t the case
Special mention to the massage and shampoo part, Mao is definitely a professional! I was forcing my eyes open to not fall in a sleeping beauty type of slumber because it was so relaxing
I just learned a bit late that tipping was a thing in the industry (🥲), so when I come back down in Montreal, I’ll def re-give her a tip! Will definitely come again if I get another hairtostrophy
(The picture was taken 6 hours after the end of the appointment, after hours of walking, sweating and fanning myself. The shape kept up...
Read moreI rarely leave Google reviews but but really feel like doing it this time. I have not had this kind of experience in years (not sure if I ever had tbh). I booked an appointment online for the Wash, Blow Dry, and Styling service the next day at 12pm. The appointment was confirmed by the salon. I subsequently even called to confirm the appointment, pricing, etc. I arrived at 11:59am at the salon on the day of appointment and was told by my assigned hairdresser to wait. I waited for 40 mins and left. Had they told me that I would need to wait for over 30 mins, I would've straight up left instead or at least gone for some quick lunch nearby first.
For someone who plans for their days and really cares about punctuality, it is very frustrating and disturbing to experience this. I had another 2 appointments that same afternoon and other stuff the next day, and simply could not afford to spend 40mins/1h waiting for a hair wash. A professional salon would have better coordinated the scheduling to show the true and realistic availability to their clients. A professional salon would not take their clients time for granted thinking that they have nothing else/better to do during the day.
Note: this review is obviously a combination of my objective & subjective viewpoints and only applies to the downtown location. To other people who are satisfied with their level of professionalism and services, good for you and...
