Stay clear of this place if you can. We went as a group of 10 for an event and everything was great, the atmosphere was electric, comfortable and trendy. The problem was when it came time to pay, most of our group does not speak French, so unfortunately when one of our friends went to pay he pressed no tip by accident. Note, he was extremely apologetic once he returned to our table, he was trying to explain his side to the staff but the staff ignored him and spoke badly about him within earshot. The bartender then approached our table and asked him to tip, to which he was more than happy to. However, she put $5 into the machine for her tip when his bill was only $20. Another one of our friends then calculated 15% on her phone for the tip (which was around $2<, the bartender was trying to round it up to $3) 25% would be valid if the service was good. Note again: our friend had to calculate the tip because the bartender was not letting him change the tip amount. Still, he was willing to tip and the bartender was giving attitude the whole time. Stating: "If you don't tip, it comes out of my pocket!" and "It is illegal not to tip in Quebec!" Which is untrue, however, we acknowledge tipping culture is important and necessary for the lively hoods of workers. Lastly, another one of our members paid afterwards and she got upset again, asking how much %15 of $10 is and saying he had to tip. We felt disrespected as all we wanted to do was have a simple night. We were not disrespectful, we agreed to pay the tip but it would have been a better experience if we didn't get scolded for an honest mistake that we apologized for and resolved.

What a vibe of a place - felt like high school prom. Though there were several disappointments. I was a bit disappointed that there was only one ping ping table despite it being called Ping Pong Club. The drinks were good, not a huge range though. The fries were super delicious, natural, and fresh. The seats could've had some cushions as they were just pieces of wood and cold. They did have a live DJ which was good. Some people were dancing as well. I only really liked it cause of the friends I was with but other than that, it needs some touch ups.

Absolutely phenomenal! Maive is a most excellent bartender, personable and sweet. The establishment is clean and has the perfect ambiance- lots of plants, great music, delicious food (the poutine here is divine), well-priced and fabulous cocktails. Even with only one table, Ping Pong Club is a great place to go! 11/10, will return!

We have had a very poor experience at the Ping Pong Club.

We came here during the Super Bowl 2019. Our waitress mistakenly brought us a pint of beer that we had not ordered. We warned her about it and she did not come to remove it. We had not touched it, but when we ordered our bill, we have observed that it had been added to our bill. After a tiresome discussion, she reluctantly removed the wrongly billed pint of beer. On our way out, she confronted me because I left her a tip on the price of our new bill, but not on the price of the previous bill (?!).

She argued that because she "lifted" the price of the beer (that she mistakenly brought to us and that was not touched), we should have awarded her a higher tip (which was already 15%). We were appalled on how careless this waitress.

Reading the reviews below, it looks this has been a common experience for other clients...

Why does part of the Ping Pong Club's staff thinks that this is...

HORRIBLE experience tonight. This was my second time visiting Montreal and I was really excited to come in again. This time my bf and I were harassed to leave tip (something that never happened to me before in Montreal). Of course we always leave a tip at a bar, but the card machine was all in french and we were confused on the tip procedure. The bartender yelled at us for not leaving a tip. After we explained to her the issue and profusely apologized she rolled her eyes and walked away. 30 seconds later, after we left the bar area we were approached by a man who yelled at us for not leaving a tip. He told us we were liars and got extremely close to us, and continued to harass us. Not sure of a bar anywhere who would treat paying customers like this, but it was incredible. Racist and rude bar here. Made the whole experience bad already in my...
