Visiting Montreal to see family and would like to take our family to enjoy Thai food. So we found this restaurant. We booked in advance directly to the restaurant because we have 7 of us. We tried to book through Opentable first but they recommended us to call or send an e-mail to the restaurant instead. The restaurant was not big, not small but the setup of the tables was quite dense. There were some tables that we could sit on the floors. (Traditional unique Thai style in the old days) We did not have a high expectation from the beginning but the food was nice. Chicken satay with peanut sauce and cucumber sauce was delicious. Garlic fried chicken wings were yummy. Fish cake was good for some levels with cucumber sauce. Somtum was a bit too sour but acceptable. Stucky rice was soft and nice. Grilled shrimp came with spicy and sour mango salad. Tom Kha was tasty but could be more concentrated. Pork praram was nice. It was peanut sauce with pork and fried spinach. Sweet and sour chicken was tasty too. Fried shrimp was tasty, coming with sweet and sour sauce. Pad Thai was delicious too. Panaeng Neu (Beef curry) was very tasty. Fried rice with shrimp was ok but a bit too wet. But we ate with other dishes so it was fine. All of those dishes were nice and enjoyable. Except for one disappointing dish, that was Fish with chilli and lime. They used a frozen fish in big pieces. What a shame. The taste wasn’t there and the fish was too firm and overcooked. So far it was a good Thai restaurant in Montreal. Chef was Thai.

Went to this restaurant on a whim because I was craving Thai food. We had the table d’hote at $35, which was a fair price for a soup (4 options), 3 appetizers and choice of 1 main. The coconut milk soup (#4) was delicious and the appetizers of spring roll, peanut butter dumplings and chicken satay stick were all really good. However the meal somewhat declined thereafter. We got the red curry with vegetables and shrimp and sticky rice and the chicken pad Thai. The curry sauce was good but I found the veggies too undercooked, especially the Thai eggplant which was quite hard. The shrimp were plump and there were a good amount and the rice was good. The pad Thai was very plain and totally lacked punch or much flavour, unfortunately. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice as they also had a more traditional seating area with colourful low cushions and tables. The waiter was also very nice.

We had a great customer service experience. The waiter was very nice. Brought us everything we asked for. To me the wait time was typical. Water was refilled normally. Thai iced tea was good. Partner's black Russian was good. Food was very tasty. Got crispy duck and a peanut curry with chicken. Green mango salad without shrimp. I thought the portions were great. We both left satisfied. Seating options included floor/table (with feet going under the table into a space underneath) and chair/table. Super accommodating and friendly with our baby, too. Didn't get to check bathroom for changing table. Parking was free and available on the street.

Please consider this review by a real critic !! (I’ll try to be as short & honest as i can)

I got faced by an unrealistic rude server !! It literally spoilt my day! :(

Let’s talk about the real stuff - The Thai food here ! - Just for background, I’ve been to Thailand & had Thai cooking classes so i know what Thai food flavours are :)

Pad thai - (vegan) - lacked flavour !! Pad thai is KNOWN for its tangy Tamarind , palm sugar & spice! Well lacked every bit of it !! Was a completely WronG recipe! No touch of Thai ! Felt store bought sauce!

Green curry- well well ..!! The green curry has thai basil flavour! But it completely lacked it’s flavour ! However was cocunutty & was quite palatable not to reject but NoT GREAT at alllll

Sticky rice- COMPLETELY UNCOOKED !! Gosh !! How could you serve us such rice & let the tummy hurt

We were not asked at all if we liked our food or not nor did the server come to us after i waited on my table sitting for 15 mins! There was staff at the counter happily chatting & smiling & giggling but they definitely did not look across the table

Next- when i called a guy, he said someone will come shorting & took another 5-7 mins !

There was a 2nd lady who came (apparently told she was the owner ????) & oh my! When i requested if my pad thai could have more flavor- Her reply was -“ we make it this way only” & she did ask to change our dish- which was quite genuine I did request for more tamarind sauce but unfortunately turned out the chef doesn’t know what flavours are like !!

When my dish came back again, it was again terrible, nobody again checked on us if we liked the food or not & we had to wait for the server to be called for the next 10 mins !

The 1st server Finally came back & said she can replace it. We quite appreciated that & also thanked her with a smile

Got mango sticky rice- & noooo..!!! It was not ideal as well..!! I was amazed what these people serve. The mango was tart & the rice w coconut sauce was just ok!! Surprising how a simple recipe can be made so unappealing and unappetising !

NOW the main story highlight lol

When the time came for bill payment, we did think we did not enjoy the experience, so according to us we paid the tip

LITERALLY the 1st server started imploding on us about the tip. I will write EXACT SAME words she spoke to us “ Do you realise how much tip you paid??!” (In a high tone)

“Are you guys from Montreal??” (High pitch as if she is forcing us to pay more money”

I did explain to her that we did not enjoy the experience & we had to wait a lot but she started commenting in an argumentative manner with again raising her voice to us “ BUT IT IMPACTS ME” & said “I CHANGED the order for you” as if she was obliging us & doing us a favour ?!! & when we didn’t agree to pay her more she said “You Should NOT COME here Again”

& she yelled at us so unprofessionally “Just leave “

I cannot BELIEVE we were treated SO INHUMANE & SO UNKINDLY just for tipping her 10% as she was begging 15% tip from us

Had she been kind & sweet to ask in a nice manner like “ would you mind to tip me more please…” or “ was it something wrong from my end that i got tipped less ??” I would have literally given her cash from my pocket RIGHT away Rather than her overwhelming loud comments like oh i EXPECT 15% Are You from Montreal !! Blah blah blah

I walked out of that place & undeniably had to tell her to Shut up as she was being super super disrespectful by yelling at us to leave & forcing us to literally pay her more money!!!!

LOL My Goodness!!!!!! It is COMPLETELY on us & our Affordability how much we Tip you!!! & if you didn’t likeit, give us our tip back !!!!!!!!!!!!

Not sure who the owner or manager is but we definitely would not come here again even in our dreams !! In my entire life, I’ve not had such A terrible experience !!!

& the food is a COMPLETE BUMMER

Bless that server who was ill-mannered, discourteous & impolite to us! She might be sick & might need real help!

PS- if i get an unprofessional reply on this, will make sure i will...

I ordered for delivery when my mom and brother were visiting. Generally, it was delicious. We had an entrée of dumplings (Kiao Satay, #10) that were very good; they were spicy enough that my brother and I enjoyed without giving mom heartburn. Mom had Pad Praram (#4) which was delicious (I was jealous and finished her portion). My brother (he's the one who really likes Asian food and suggested we try the place) had Pad Si Ew (#83) and we barely heard from him during the meal so I'll say he liked it. The only letdown was my Pad Thai (#84), it lacked taste and it was as if they used leftover, broken, overcooked noodles. I can understand that delivery can lead to what seems like overcooked noodles but usually they're more than 1 or 2 cm long. I gave them a four since everything but my noodles were delicious and I know that part of that could have been because of delivery and not the fault of the kitchen. A note on the delivery, on the phone I was told that it could take up to 45 minutes and it arrived in 20. The delivery guy was thankful (and proud) when I told him. Good job buddy! P.S. I just moved into the area 2 days ago and I'll definitely be...
