Had an amazing experience at this place. Great place to dine or take out if you are looking for Indian food in Montreal. You would be eating at a restaurant but still feel like dining at home, the food is authentic and original flavoured. Service was amazing, price is totally worth for the quality and quantity both. If you are not familiar with traditional spice levels of Indian food,it can be really spicy for you but don’t hesitate to let the server know, they will adjust the spice level accordingly. Saag paneer was so delicious which was served with hot naan from tandoor. Chicken biryani was delicious, with a great number of boneless chicken in it, served with raita and salad on the side. If you are Indian you know the feeling of “Maaza” try it out! They have a small unit so sitting area is small and limited to two tables but that shouldn’t stop you from eating or taking out from this place. Rukon is a hardworking individual running this little place in the heart of Montreal for about 25 years. I highly recommend supporting this local business. Definitely recommend this place. :) :) Don’t judge the book by its cover, try it and experience the beauty of Indian cuisine here.

The only reason I ordered food from this place is because of the innumerable 5 star ratings that caught my attention. I didn't want to order many things since I had other food planned too. I ordered the Mango Lassi, the vegetarian thali and the vegetable Biryani. The food was absolutely spot on. The biryani (well, it was a pulav) was really delicious, sumptuous, and had perfect amounts of spices in it, making it not too masala-esque and not very bland either. Very few places lived up to the standards wrt mastering the Indian flavours, and I dare say this is one among them. P.S.- A special mention was the Dal in the thali. It was exquisite. P.P.S.- I ordered via phone and when I went in to pick-up, the owner said that he had given my food to someone by mistake, and asked me to wait in the car while he got mine ready in 5 minutes. He was so apologetic and polite, and did bring fresh food within 5 minutes. Loved the attitude of the guy! 10/10 for the service and the food.

Wow! This is the best Indian food I've had in Montréal! I got the Shrimp Tandoori plate which came with a small salad and spiced rice on the side. Everything was cooked well and was packed with spices. I just wish the portion of shrimp was bigger. I also ordered Vegetable Curry (If a restaurant can do that well, then you can bet that their more "exciting" dishes are delicious!) This restaurant nailed it! Just the right amount of salt, spice, creaminess, tang, and I also liked the addition of fava beans; I've never had them in a Vegetable Curry before! I'm looking forward to trying some of their meat curries and breads the next time I order (which is soon sooner than you’d think lol). Overall, I would highly* recommend this restaurant for affordable and super flavourful Indian food!

WORST INDIAN FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD!!! Me and my husband went to this restaurant on the night of September 18th for our last meal in Montreal before our trip finished. Worst decision everrrrrr!! Lack of hygiene was shockinggggg!!!!

I called prior to coming since it was close to their closing time. The moment I walked in I was a little taken aback as this place barely had any tables where people could eat and whatever tables they had were full since the whole staff was eating there. They asked us to wait because of that which was fine no big deal. When we sat at our table I was shocked to see they didn’t even bother to wipe the damn table. The menu on the table had 4-5 rice on it 🤮 little crumbs of food all over the table. We wanted to order lamb curry and 3 tandoori roti. The guy who took our order (seemed like he owned the place idek) said we have to order 4 to which we said okay since we were very hungry. He also suggested we try out their Chicken Rolls and said it is very popular among their customers. We got mango lassi before our food which tasted very sour and at this point we could kinda feel that this place just wasnt it and that we have been MASSIVELY deceived. The lamb curry gave me and my husband a heart burn I didn’t even touch the lamb just had my roti with curry. And the roti oh my daysssss. The roti fam was from effin walmart. Jeez! Be for real please. I asked for tandoori roti they gave me this stiff ready made walmart roti which they just warmed up on the tawa. That made me wonder if they even have a tandoor???? I was shook at the audacity of this restaurant. Calling walmart tawa roti, a tandoori roti I consider it a CRIME fam. At this point I didn’t even wanna have their “very popular” chicken rolls. Husband and I took a bite out of it and left it as it is. We literally just tasted everything and paid for it and left. Please do not choose take your partner here ever. My husband was literally giving me a side eye the whole night cuz this was supposed to be our nice last meal before we ended our trip and it just ruined everything. I am...

Fake reviews. I would give them no stars if it were possible. We had to wait like 15 minutes just to place an order for no reason as we were the only ones there. When someone finally came to take our order he spoke really fast and tried to add additional items so we’d pay more for food that we didn’t want. We wanted one garlic naan but he gave us two. We only wanted one mango lassi but he tried to give us two. I had to tell him multiple times that we only wanted one for him to put it back. The food was bad and does not have authentic taste at all. We got the Chana masala and the saag paneer. Both of them tasted like canned tomatoes with random spices thrown in. The food came out a bit spicy so we asked the chef to give us another order of it with less spice. He instead took back what he served us and it tasted like he just reheated the food and reserved the same dishes to us. He must have heard us say it was still too spicy so he just gave us a little yogurt but then of course charged us extra for it even though we didn’t want it. The garlic naan did not taste like naan at all. It was oddly very chewy and doughy (almost like a pretzel) but lacked salt and flavor in general. We came in with high expectations because of the great reviews but we left extremely disappointed. I would not recommend this place to my...

Absolutely disappointing experience. We were in the area and decided to give this place a try based on their reviews.

The food was poor. Our Butter Chicken and Shahi Paneer were incredibly sweet and the taste of tomato overwhelming as well as dominant in both dishes. Furthermore both dishes looked suspiciously similar in colour and texture to the extent that we are convinced that the sauce came from the same pan.

What left us with a very sour aftertaste is the owner. When ordering, he would continuously try and sell us more portions than we wanted/needed by claiming that e.g. the naan portion is very small, which it actually wasn't. Once seated, we were immediately given two bottles of water for which he would later try to charge us, even if we didn't even touch it. This seemed very un-Canadian to m. When it came to paying, he was very hesitant to produce a receipt and gave us the card reader instead. Upon insisting, he produced a receipt with a dubious excuse claiming that he could only print one because we were paying in cash and not by card. All in all a very unpleasant character and not a true host at all. His employee on the other hand was polite, so we cannot fault him.

All these positive reviews are definitely bought to counteract the genuine, negative reviews. Please stay clear of this...
