Visited the dine in location today with my wife May 2024 and it was amazing. We are here on a trip from Hamilton, ON. We are vegetarian and this was hands down the best vegetarian sushi we have both ever eaten. The only thing that comes close is Tenon in downtown Toronto which is amazing this this is at another level when it comes to creativity, flavours and presentation.
Overall this was an expert display of textures. I thought that every dish was a delicate combination of crunch, soft along with mixtures of umami, sweet, salty and spicy.
For appetizers we got the Japanese Arancini which was hot crunchy and loved the sauces.
Next for Futomaki we got the Chou-Chou (top row with yellow coating). We loved the tempura cauliflower inside. The middle row coated in avocado was the big momo which was my favourite - highly recommend. The bottom row was the GYU maki tempura which was also amazing.
On the left edge was the Aubergine Falmbée (flamed eggplant) crispy rice – this one was amazing and the flammed eggplant created unique flavour that we never tasted before and was amazing. On the right edge was the avocat & ail noir (Avacado and Black garlic); my only comment would that this one tasted like a guacamole topping and perhaps next time I would try one of the other Cripsy rice
Overall I thought it was amazing and was worth the price. I will be coming back here if I ever visit Montreal again and will be bringing friends and family here in the future. Service was great too considering we were English speakers. My only other comment would be that an English menu would be helpful as I kept having to enter the a picture onto...
Read moreThis is the first review I ever post online and unfortunately it’s to vent how frustrating my experience has been. I bought the Hitori combo that was on promotion on Uber Eats, and as the description says it’s the fan favourites and chef’s picks. I ordered at around 8-8:30 two days ago as I was craving sushi like crazy and thought, this place has good reviews and the promotion looks amazing!
I was nevertheless quickly disappointed as when I received them, the smell was extremely unappetizing although visually it looked great. I decided to give it a try, and I felt sick after 3 sushis. I am unsure what was in them, or if maybe I got unlucky but these were by far the worse I’ve ever tried and I had to puke them out. Thinking it was probably a “me problem” I asked my sister to try them too, but she also disliked it, and my little sister got a stomachache later that night.
When I contacted Uber and urged them to look into it, I was met with a robotic reply repeating the same things over and over again and they did not offer any type of compensation. I wasted almost 50$ that night, got sick, wasted food and time as well as being unable to enjoy any type of food afterwards because the vomit sensation was still in my mouth.
After craving sushi for over a month and giving this store a go, I can definitely say to avoid the Hitori combo at all cost if you want to save your money and avoid the...
Read moreNEW 2022 UPDATED REVIEW: I came here 4 years ago and had such an impressive and excellent experience that I was worried I would come back and the quality would not hold up. I was worried for nothing because everything has improved. The quantity of the sushi was bigger, the flavours were just as well-balanced as I remember, and the atmosphere is great. I highly recommend getting a deal that has an appetizer and dessert included, with a selection of different sushi options. Overall, sushi momo still offers some of the best sushi I've ever had, without using fish. The creativity of the menu is unmatched and I encourage anyone interested in trying something new to come here, but don't expect traditional sushi!
OLD REVIEW: Do yourself a favour and go here. It is amazing; better than any non vegan meat-based sushi I have ever had. Both me and my boyfriend got the option where the chef picks their favourite sushi, so you don't know what you're getting. The flavours were complex but complimentary and I really have nothing bad to say about this restaurant. I started with the seaweed salad and it was nearly a full meal in itself. The miso soup was creamy and flavourful, and the small dessert (which came with the menu option) was a perfect size to end a really filling meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and I'm already planning a trip back to bring a friend who is allergic to shellfish but...
