Restaurant Chatpata — Restaurant in Montreal

This is a tiny, subterranean space with zero seating, so be ready for this. I ordered chili chicken and veggie manchurian noodles, both made to order so it did take a while (about 20 minutes), but the order was massive- enough for three meals, and I'm a big eater- and very tasty! I've ordered chili chicken and have had it from the buffet at many Indian restos and it's almost always this sugary concoction with a sauce comprising ketchup and that bright red chili sauce you see in bottles at Thai places- it's junky but delicious and completely inauthentic. This chili chicken doesn't appear to comprise either tomato ketchup or "chili sauce"; it's a refreshing brown in colour with a delightful depth of flavour- very good! The noodles are tasty enough with a subtle spice but as with the chili chicken, don't have any MSG edge and taste....wholesome, or as wholesome as a massive pile of simple carbs can be. I recently visited Chatpata restaurant with great anticipation to try their Dahi Panipuri. However, my experience was a huge disappointment from start to finish.

The service was terrible; our server seemed uninterested, and when we received our order, we were disappointed to see the portions were tiny.

The Dahi Panipuri itself was a letdown. The puris tasted stale, and the dahi (yogurt) was overly sweet and lacked the tanginess I was expecting. The overall flavors were imbalanced, and the entire experience was unsatisfactory.

To make things worse, the prices were exorbitant, and I felt like I was being ripped off for the tiny portions we were served. In conclusion, I would not recommend Chatpata restaurant to anyone, especially for Dahi Panipuri.

For the 5 years that I was in Montreal, i always wanted an authentic indian street food in downtown! But sadly, you get very few options over there and the ones u have taste pretty bland and boring. But now, finally after all these years we have the place guys!! To all my desi people: Go check out chatpata inc.!! You will not regret this. We ordered veg noodles 11/10, soya chaap 10/10, chicken lollipop 10/10 and bhalla chaat with extra papris 100/10!! Love love love it!! You can actually feel my happiness as I am writing this review! I think this is going to be my go to spot everytime I visit montreal! Thank you to the people who cook everything as you can see they really want to bring out the actual flavors in the food and make people happy...
