I'll have to provide an edit with photos after this review, but in the meantime:
Right so, I really like this place! I think there's a lot of little things that could change it from good to great.
Understandably La Diperie is adjusting to Covid-19 safety measures like anywhere else, and so I'm not gonna be too hard on them for that reason. Specifically they really could benefit from a clearer walking system so people aren't confused about where to go to order and pay for food.
Anyway, what I think would help them is a few of the following:
Toppings: currently you have them in little jars, which is cute, but they've been moved around slightly and it's disorganized, especially since it gives the impression that they are what the customer interacts with when it's the server who has a stock of toppings behind the counter that they access. So, 'formalize' the toppings in a single, sight accessible area (maybe not seperated by a column from the dipping area) so that people see it as options and not a tactile thing they need to interact with. Or, ask yourself why it's set up this way. Perhaps you want the customer to apply their own toppings so that it's more personal, and change accordingly.
Dipping area: The labels need updating, and preferably more info about each flavour. I got a ginger dip but had I known it would be in a sort of a ginger/chocolate mix I wouldn't have gone for it because dark chocolate gives me migraines. (I looooove pistachio dipâ€)
The column: that thing's huge! Good space for advertising and menu areas. Would be great if it gave a 1.2.3 step process on where to go for ice cream, dipping and toppings. With arrows.
The main menu board: currently obstructed by the hanging wall /Covid-19 barrier and it's messed with the sight lines and sight access of the entire area. Plus when your at the ice cream section or dipping areas and looking for visual instructions as a guide and then try to see the menu from where you are, it's blocked by distance, the column, and an over abundance of information on the menu board. You end up having to leave the line and hanging around the cash register just to see the menu, which means you're in the way of people trying to pay. All while supposed to be maintaining a 2M distance from others lol.
Miscellaneous: needs a deep clean, and repair of nics and chips of various displays.
I love this place. The staff are nice and the ideas of the place are great! It just needs a little polishing. And...
Read moreNever going back at that Diperie again !
The owner or manager (woman in her mid-sixties and black hair, always there) (probably this Antoinnette person) refused a coupon « achetez-en un et le 2e est gratuit ». She was saying that itâs only for the item on the picture (ice cream sandwich) even if it isnât specified in the description underneath (see pictures).
She said in a low tone: « How can I make money like this ? » As if doing what the coupon really says would put her out of business.
She kept telling her employee (younger guy): « Whenever you see this coupon, itâs only for the ice cream sandwich. » To that he replied that he didnât know and that he had already accepted the coupon for other items.
I just gave up, she was too rude.
The other coupon (2$ de rabais) would specify that itâs only for 4 of their items and no other items. If it really was for ice cream sandwich only, it would have been written.
The exact same coupon as mine was on the cash register so itâs not as if that Diperie wasnât accepting any of these coupons.
I had already gone to this Diperie before asking for the same thing (cookie dought with ice cream on top). That time I asked for extra ice cream and the girl was super friendly and said she would have to add 1$ extra and so she did. The ice cream she put was a good portion.
The next time I went, I asked for the same thing and the older woman (manager) gave me the same ordinary amount of ice cream. Whenever sheâs there I know that my ice cream is gonna look cheap even if itâs the most expensive...
Read moreSo Iâll just start this off with how extremely upset I amâŠ.ordered bubble gum ice cream for my friends 7 year old son, needles to say when I received the order from Uber eats there was literally 2 scoops of bubblegum ice cream inside the cup which was completely filled with vanilla. After going on their website to see if thatâs how they really make it, I saw a cone will ONLY bumblegum ice cream, so Iâd love to know why they cheap out on the bubblegum when you order off Uber eats and pretty much fill an entire cup up with vanilla ice cream with two small scoops of bubblegum in thereâŠ.needles to say Iâm left with a crying 7 year old whoâs completely unsatisfied for the rest of the nightâŠfirst time ordering from La Diperie and will definitely be the last, if youâre purposely making children cry because youâre too cheap to fill up your ice cream cups with the flavour they want and instead using vanilla as a filler then you should choose a different business. Completely unacceptable, especially when Christmas is around the cornerâŠnot...
