We stumbled upon this cozy restaurant after visiting a nearby museum and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the warm and welcoming atmosphere. It is definitely the definition of a hidden gem.
From the mouth-watering pizza to the flavorful sandwiches, every dish at Chez Balar is made with high-quality ingredients and prepared with care. The pizza crust is perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, and the toppings are always fresh and flavorful. Whether you're a fan of classic pepperoni or more adventurous toppings like goat cheese and figs, you're sure to find something you love on the menu.
In addition to their pizza, Chez Balar also offers a great selection of sandwiches. The bread is fresh and toasted to perfection, and the fillings are always delicious and satisfying. Whether you're in the mood for a classic grilled cheese or something more gourmet like their smoked salmon sandwich, you won't be disappointed.
And if you're a tea lover, be sure to try the tea at Chez Balar. It's expertly brewed and served with a personal touch that makes it a must-have on any visit.
But it's not just the food and drink that makes Chez Balar so special. The service is exceptional, and the owners are some of the most welcoming and inviting people you'll ever meet. They go above and beyond to make sure their customers feel at home, and it's clear that they're passionate about what they do.
Overall, I can't recommend Chez Balar enough. The food is outstanding, the tea is a must-have, and the service is top-notch. Whether you're looking for a casual lunch spot or a cozy dinner destination, Chez Balar is the...
Read moreWent here on as whim today having judged this place previously on reviews, I thought I'd come here to see what's with the high rating.
The place is very traditional looking upstairs in the dine in area remiscent of an Iranian family in the 90s. The people who work and cook there are Iranian and they play Iranian music. The waitress was nice and responsive contrary to what others have mentioned here. The food is interesting! Definitely not traditional iranian food in the literal sense. These dishes are the types of Americanized dishes that my grandmother adopted once we moved to Canada. You won't see these sandwiches or pizzas in any North American or European restaurant. Heck you won't even see this in Iranian restaurants. You'll see this in an Iranian home on a typical weekday.
I ordered the roast beef sandwich and my wife ordered the mortadella hot sandwich. They were both very good, though I couldn't say that it was too die for. If I ever go back for a meal, I will have to try the pizza. Where this place shines in my opinion, is tea and dessert. Pretty good selection of 6-7 cakes, decently priced, decently sized and delicious. They also have many teas with different scents that all smell amazing!
For two sandwiches (1 full, 1 half size), a drink, two pieces of cake and a tea pot of saffron tea, it came to 45 (after tax and tip). Reasonable, but I wouldn't call it cheap.
Overall, I'm giving it 5 stars because I would come back to taste the pizza and get more dessert/tea. I will reevaluate then...
Read moreUPDATE FOLLOWS I ordered a veggie pizza and the Persian nachos through doordash; the food arrived in the promised time, but it was cold (both), the pizza was super delicious though and tasted exactly Iranian, yet too small 🙈😬😅 however, the Persian nachos was nothing like its photo and description on the website: it was just a little amount of burnt chips with a little cheese and very very few pieces of other promised ingredients and a huge amount of dressing sauce (as can be seen in the photo)! Worse than that, I had mentioned specifically and in capital letters WITHOUT meat please, and yet there were a few pieces of sliced meat in there.. soooo, yep, not happy with my experience and not going to order again (unless I soooo much miss the taste of Iranian style pizza 😝😅) Btw, I did receive a doordash credit for my "bad experience" but I'm not really sure how it works between them and who does the compensation 🤷♀️🤷♀️😝
UPDATE: thank you Chez Hailar for the nice gesture, and even more for bringing it to the level of action! I did enjoy the meal way more this time! The -complimentary- Persian nachos was just perfectly prepared this time, and had decent amount of ingredients and dressing sauce! I appreciate that and I feel very satisfied with your service! Highly recommended, especially to Iranian pals who miss the taste of the fast food back home: It just can't be more original that it is at...
