Has gone downhill since 2018. Used to be reasonably authentic and good value. Now the prices are inflated and the quality poor. Pad Thai appears generous by portion and variety of all 3 proteins, but is made with a disgusting packaged sauce without any shred of authentic or traditional taste. Overly tangy/acidic (maybe cheap ketchup based) and no umami from fish sauce. Lemon instead of lime? Teaspoon of peanuts on the side, very disappointing. Curry was under seasoned and very basic. Sizzles plates impress from a distance but are one dimensional-flavoured with burnt teriyaki. Service was absent, no instruction (about the lack of menus, who was serving or how to order) or greeting/guiding to the table. Never noticed the table, never came back to check on readiness to order, food, if we needed anything, never the same waiter serving, they’d overlap and not even communicate so asked more than once for the same thing. Water never refilled and was inadequate for our table size. Served with less cutlery than than the number at the table (3 spoons for 5 people?!). Came to bring a takeout container for leftovers, was a re-used plastic that was greasy on the bottom and the lid has brown liquid dripping from it. Only worth taking leftovers because they cost such an outrageous price, but not worth it in re-used unclean garbage. All this, when prices have gone from 15-20 to 25-35 for no reason.
Oh and in the middle of the meal the restaurant has some homeless lady they’ve allowed to come in and try and sell you stuffed toys and trinkets and aggressively waves their wares interrupting each table one by one to try and get you to buy something from her. About the only authentic thing there… if this was a food stall on the streets of Bangkok, not a $50/person restaurant that then wants to argue if not tipped 30% when providing no service to speak of. Avoid, there’s better flavour in Mae Ploy canned curry from the...
Read moreIncredible restaurant!! Been there twice now and already looking forward for the next time! The staff is just amazing, super friendly, the server remembered our names from the first time like a year ago! We had a chat about his family background, very pleasant.. The food was a total delight, just about happiness! We took a Tom Yum soup, the "Coquille Phuket" which was probably one of the best appetizer we ate for a loooong time, the green curry seafood's plate and the Panang curry beef (you always want more). This restaurant is a real diamond, a must to go if you like Thaï cuisine! Bring a bottle or two, you'll have a great dinner for sure :)
Thanks Eric...
Read moreWe went there at 8h15 PM for dinner and ordered. Appetizers came at 9 PM, took a whole 45 minutes for 4 salads. There was a party behind us. Music was super loud, main dishes came around at 9h45. The kept increasing the volume of the music. They were prioritizing the party behind us because the restaurant owner knew them. Imagine waiting a whole 1h30 for your food. Doesn't make any sense. If you decide to a big party, why not just close the restaurant for your friends and not take any customers if you can't handle them. Really really bad...
