This isn't a horrible place, but conceptually it's way off. First off, the food: honestly it's average. We had mild mango lamb and spicy butter chicken with a few appetizers. Nothing stood out... it was surprisingly bland. Even the "spicy" butter chicken had zero spice.
Second issue, the menu: composed of over 100 items, it's really hard to choose what to try and there are NO combos, no deals and no specials. Unless you know exactly what you want to try good luck figuring it out. No combos makes it worse because you need to choose every item as NOTHING is included, no rice, no Naan, nothing. As you are trying to make your meal you find yourself calculating in your head, appetizers + main + rice, hmm do I have to have the rice? Maybe I'll take the Naan instead? Do I buy both, if I do I guess I'll only try one dish then. It really ruins the experience
Third issue, the price: as the menu offers no combos and nothing is included well that works up the bill rapidly. The portions, except on the main dishes, do match the price. The mains however I found them rather expensive for the small quantity, so trying several dishes becomes an expensive option. Rice and Naan are priced okay, but if you want both you find yourself with a lot of food and a really high bill for what you are getting.
Last problem is the decor. The place is rather new, so it's clean, but the background scenery on the wall is cheesy. It cheapens the mood and you find yourself wondering why am I paying for every item separately in this odd looking place.
Overall I really do not recommend this place. There are so many other Indian restaurants in the area that know what they are doing and do it well. Don't waste your time or money. I hate predicting things like this, but I don't see a long life for this place unless they can figure out...
Read moreThis is an underrated Indian restaurant. The food is very tasty and Chef Bhatti is one of the only Chef's in the West Island that knows how to prepare 'real' Indian dishes. We typically order our food 'mild' and with any other place (Literally no exceptions) they cannot handle this and the food ends up being tasteless but at this place it is tasty and not mouth burning spicy. We usually order a Chicken Pakora, Chicken Biryani, Butter Chicken, Lamb Bhuna, Okra, some Naan bread and Gulab Jamun and it is excellent. Its always better to 'pick-up' your food since they offer the best prices when you do and as a matter of fact they have recently updated their prices if you do. Do not expect delivery despite what their website says (We've tried numerous times and only succeeded a few since they are usually short of drivers) but you can dine-in (Never done that) or just pick it up, which is the route we take. I have included a picture of the updated prices when you pick the food up and they are the most reasonable in the West Island and the portions are superb. A meal from them will typically last 2 if not 3 days and for 2 persons so great...
Read moreTook my wife there on Saturday evening. We ordered from the menu. Place just opened a week ago.
Place was starting to get busy . Order took a bit of a while and our beef kebab took a bit longer but was tender and tasty and nicely seasoned. Butter chicken was delicious but the curry fish was so tender and had a melt -in -your -mouth taste. Sauce was excellent. NAN bread was fresh and inviting. BASMATI rice was missing some usual toppings but that was only my preference . CHICKEN BRIANI was well cooked. Rice pudding with pistachio was a nice ending. Service was a bit slow but serveuses were polite and catering. Menu has a big variety including vegetarian sections. They have a buffet during the day . Manager/owner was supervising everything maybe a bit too much as waitresses seemed stressed out and running all over the place. Understandably as it is a new place.
Overall...
